‘Shiv Smarak’ and ‘Shiv Mudra’ to be Erected on the Road Leading to Navi Mumbai International Airport – Minister of Cultural Affairs Adv. Ashish Shelar

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar has directed CIDCO to initiate action for the construction of a Shiv Smarak (Shivaji Memorial) and Shiv Mudra (emblem of Shivaji Maharaj) on the road leading to the Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The Minister was speaking at a meeting held at Mantralaya regarding the proposed construction of the Shiv Smarak and Shiv Mudra near Atal Setu. Present on the occasion were MLAs Mahesh Baldi and Prashant Thakur, Secretary Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, along with officials from CIDCO and MMRDA.

Minister Shelar stated that Maharashtra is blessed with a rich historical and cultural heritage, and efforts must be made to showcase it widely. With Navi Mumbai International Airport located in Raigad district, the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, tourists from across the world will arrive here. To acquaint them with Maharashtra’s culture, a proposal for funding the construction of the Shiv Smarak and Shiv Mudra near Atal Setu should be prepared.

He instructed CIDCO to submit the funding proposal to the state government, obtain approval, and expedite the work. He also directed all implementing agencies and departments to promptly secure the necessary permits related to the project.
