Chief Minister Reviews Progress of Aizawl Western Side Bypass Road Construction

Aizawl, Sept 2025: Today, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma convened a review meeting in his office to assess the ongoing work of the Aizawl Western Side Bypass Road. The contractors and concerned officials provided detailed updates on the progress.

The Aizawl Western Side Bypass Road is being constructed under the PM DeVINE scheme with an estimated cost of Rs. 500 crore. RG Buildwell Engineer Limited has been selected as the contractor for the project. The road will cover 45 kilometers in length, and so far, the physical progress achieved is 13.70%. The project is expected to be completed by the year 2028, with the contractor continuing maintenance for five years after completion.

For the project, around 23 land acquisition sites are required. Due to difficulties in finalizing a dumping site for the excavated soil and debris, seven alternative sites have already been approved for initial work. The project has been designated as a State Priority Project.

Present at the meeting were Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister; Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary to CM and PWD; Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary of Planning; Er. H. Zoramliana, Engineer-in-Chief, PWD; along with the contractor and other senior officials.
