State-Level Workshop Bolsters Health Technology Assessment in Rajasthan

JAIPUR, Sept 2025 : In a significant move to integrate evidence-based decision-making into the state’s healthcare system, AIIMS Jodhpur’s Resource Centre for Health Technology Assessment (RCHTA), in collaboration with the Department of Health Research (DHR), successfully organized a State Consultative Workshop on Health Technology Assessment (HTA). The event, held on September 19, 2025, at Hotel Holiday Inn, brought together over 50 state health officials, program directors, and experts.

The workshop, titled “Assessment for Evidence-Informed Decision Making: Health Technology Assessment Perspective,” was inaugurated by Dr. Amit Yadav, Mission Director, NHM Rajasthan, who served as the chief guest. He was joined by Dr T. Shubhmangalam, Additional Mission Director, NHM, Rajasthan. Dr. Yadav emphasized the critical role of HTA in making healthcare more cost-effective and equitable.

Expert sessions highlighted the practical applications of HTA. Dr. Krushna C. Sahoo, Scientist, took a session on the utility of HTA in decision-making at the state level and highlighted About the real world examples of HTA from India, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of its practical implementation. Dr. Oshima Sachin, scientist meanwhile, introduced Health Technology Assessment in India, setting the national context for the discussions.

Other key speakers included Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Professor at AIIMS Jodhpur, who shared the institute’s vision for HTA and briefed about some important studies conducted regarding intracranial bleed detector and assessment through haemoglobinometer. Dr. Prem Singh, State HTA Nodal Officer, who stressed the importance of strengthening state-level capacity and collaboration to drive this initiative forward.

Delegates from various institutions, including professors from Medical Colleges, National Health Mission project directors, and state program managers, also participated in the workshop. The event served as a crucial platform for deliberating on priority research areas and marks a significant step forward in integrating HTA into health policy and planning across Rajasthan.
