CM Dr. Yadav to Attend Food Processing Buyer-Seller Meet at Kushabhau Thakre Convention Center.
A buyer-seller meet of food processing producers of the state will be held on Tuesday, July 30 in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Center, Bhopal. Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Shri Narayan Singh Kushwaha will attend the meeting.
Director Horticulture Shri S.B. Singh said that the objective of the meeting is to give national and international recognition to the processed products and special horticulture products manufactured in the micro food processing enterprises of the state under the PMFME scheme run in the Horticulture Department, to provide a common platform to buyers and sellers, to train and guide agriculturists and young agricultural entrepreneurs in advanced techniques of horticultural crop production and processing, possibilities in the field of processing, market, financial assistance under government schemes and exchange information. Shri Singh said that this is an effort to fulfill the goal of Atmnirbhar Madhya Pradesh under the ‘Vocal for Local’ mission under the Atmnirbhar Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Madhya Pradesh ranks among the leading states of the country in area and production of horticultural crops. The share of horticultural crops in the total agricultural area of the state is 11.20 percent. About 400 lakh MT horticultural crops are being produced in the state. The state ranks first in the production of spices, coriander, garlic, orange, and tomato and second in the production of chili and onion.
To protect these horticultural crops produced in the state from destruction and to add value, under the PMFME scheme run in the Horticulture Department, 35 percent of the project cost, a maximum grant of Rs 10 lakh, can be provided to the entrepreneurs willing to set up micro food processing enterprises.
Round table discussion between buyers and sellers
The products and processing machines manufactured in the units will be displayed in the program, in which about 250 representatives including buyers, sellers, exporters, and experts from the state and other states will participate. The event is bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders including growers, traders, buyers, and industry experts to promote buyer-seller interactions and promote growth in the horticulture sector.
For this, a round table discussion will be held between buyers and sellers of specific products, so that they can understand each other’s needs and linkage can be created for future business and horticultural crops can get fair prices and market for their products/processed products.
Major activities to be taken up
There will be production-based buyer-seller talks, a display of products manufactured under the PMFME scheme in the state and advanced machines for special horticulture products and processing, technical sessions by experts, and distribution of grant money to the beneficiaries of the scheme through a single click.
By organizing the program, small and marginal horticulture producers benefited under the scheme will get access to national and international level buyers and new markets. Through the technical session, information related to advanced techniques of horticulture and processing and branding, marketing, and export of products will be sought. Product-based round table discussion and mutual discussion and linkage between buyers and sellers will give rise to new possibilities and successes in the horticulture world.
