Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Extends Festive Greetings on Bathukamma, Symbol of Women’s Spirit and State’s Culture

Hyderabad, Sept 2025 : Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended heartfelt greetings to women across the state on the auspicious occasion of Bathukamma, the vibrant flower festival that embodies Telangana’s cultural pride and feminine spirit.

In a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Revanth Reddy acknowledged the grandeur with which women celebrate Bathukamma, worshipping nature and honoring flowers. He wished that the festival, a symbol of Telangana’s tradition and womanhood, be celebrated with devotion and joy across the state.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Bathukamma reflects Telangana’s collective lifestyle, where people share both sorrows and happiness in unity. He expressed hope that every household would celebrate the festival with enthusiasm throughout the nine days, from “Engilipula Bathukamma” to “Saddu Bathukamma.” Offering prayers to Goddess Gowramma, he wished for light, happiness, and good health in the lives of the people of Telangana.

Bathukamma, celebrated by women with devotion and creativity, is more than a festival—it is a sacred expression of life and feminine energy. The floral arrangements, crafted with vibrant wildflowers blooming during the season, not only hold aesthetic beauty but also carry medicinal properties, believed to purify the rain-filled water bodies where they are placed. These beautifully arranged flowers embody the harmony between nature and life, making Bathukamma a festival deeply rooted in ecological awareness.

The festival also carries deep social and cultural significance. It is a time when daughters return to their maternal homes, strengthening family bonds and reviving community traditions. Women worship Goddess Gauri during the festivities, singing folk songs that celebrate devotion, unity, and the nurturing spirit of womanhood.

Bathukamma, thus, is more than a celebration of flowers—it is a tribute to Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, its reverence for nature, and the central role of women in preserving tradition and harmony. With the Chief Minister’s warm wishes, the festival resonates as both a cultural pride and a spiritual offering of the people of Telangana.
