Cardiology Department Achieves Success in Treating 100% Heart Blockage with Successful Angioplasty at ACI

ACI Becomes a Trusted Centre for Cardiac Treatment; Patients from Neighboring States Also Arriving for Care

Raipur, Sept 2025 : The Advanced Cardiac Institute (ACI) located at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Smriti Hospital is becoming a lifesaver not just for patients in Chhattisgarh but also for those from neighboring states. Recently, the cardiology department at ACI successfully performed angioplasty on a 60-year-old patient from Madhya Pradesh who had four arteries that were 100% blocked.

According to the patient’s family, he had been living on medication for a long time. Many large hospitals in Madhya Pradesh had refused to perform the angioplasty. During this period, a close relative discovered that ACI had successfully treated a complicated heart disease case a few years ago. With this assurance, they traveled to Raipur. The patient himself shared his experience, stating that when numerous doctors at major hospitals declared that treatment was not possible, ACI brought great hope. He told the doctors, “Whatever the risk, please prepare for the treatment; I am mentally fully ready for it.” Ultimately, the doctors here gave him a new lease on life.

Under the leadership of Dr. Smita Srivastava, Head of the Cardiology Department, the procedure involved opening the blocked arteries through right femoral angioplasty. Currently, the patient is fully healthy and will soon be discharged.

Dr. Srivastava mentioned that five years ago, a successful laser angioplasty was performed on another patient from Madhya Pradesh. This time, considering the severe blockage, preparations for laser treatment were made, but fortunately, successful results were achieved through standard angioplasty. Dean Dr. Vivek Chaudhary instructed the department to conduct the angioplasty as soon as possible, considering the patient’s condition.
