Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Directs Immediate Resolution of Infrastructure Issues in Ranjangaon Ganpati, Karegaon, Dhokasawangi, and Hivre Gram Panchayats of Pune District

Meeting Held on Gram Panchayat Issues in Pune District, Including Ranjangaon Ganpati

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The native population of Ranjangaon Ganpati Gram Panchayat in Pune district is only about 11,000. However, due to the adjacent MIDC industrial area, the migrated population has now reached over two lakh. This rapid growth has put immense pressure on the gram panchayat’s water supply, drainage, roads, and other infrastructure. To address these challenges and ensure holistic development of the village, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today directed that urgent measures be taken. He also instructed officials to resolve the issues of Karegaon, Dhokasawangi, and Hivre gram panchayats in the same region at the earliest.

A meeting chaired by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was held in his committee room at Mantralaya to discuss various issues concerning these gram panchayats. The meeting was attended by Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Gulabrao Patil, former minister and MLA Dilip Walse-Patil, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Principal Secretary (Planning) Saurabh Vijay, Principal Secretary (Water Supply & Sanitation) Sanjay Khandare, Principal Secretary (Rural Development) Eknath Davle, Principal Secretary (Urban Development, Navi-2) Dr. K.H. Govindrajan, Secretary to the Deputy CM Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, and MIDC Joint CEO Dr. Kunal Khemnar. Also present through video conferencing were Divisional Commissioner of Pune Chandrakant Pulkundwar, PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase-Patil, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, and CEO of Pune Zilla Parishad Gajanan Patil.

During the meeting, special discussions were held on the issues faced by Ranjangaon Ganpati, Dhokasawangi, Karegaon, and Hivre gram panchayats. Deputy CM Pawar noted that Ranjangaon Ganpati is one of the Ashtavinayak pilgrimage sites and therefore holds immense religious significance, attracting thousands of devotees daily. Additionally, due to the adjacent MIDC, a large number of industrial workers, along with the constant inflow of migrants, has resulted in a significant population surge. Given this backdrop, strengthening the village’s infrastructure is an urgent necessity, he stressed. He further directed MIDC to coordinate with the Zilla Parishad while undertaking development works in the area, considering the increasing population and the steady flow of devotees.

Representatives of the gram panchayats of Ranjangaon Ganpati, Karegaon, Dhokasawangi, and Hivre raised concerns regarding infrastructure, roads, water supply, waste management, and drainage. On hearing their issues, Deputy CM Pawar instructed the concerned departments to initiate immediate corrective measures.

The meeting was attended by office bearers of the concerned gram panchayats, MIDC officials, and senior administrative officers.
