64 Persons Caught in Khawzawl for Drug Offenses, Total Seizure Worth ₹64 Lakh

Khawzawl, Sept 2025: A drug seizure operation was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Khawzawl, covering the period from January 2025 to July 2025. The operation was led by Superintendent of Police Pu F. Lalbiakzauva under the supervision of Bawrhsap Pu K. Vanlalthiana.

During the period from January to July 2025, 6 cases were registered, resulting in the apprehension of 7 individuals.

The seizure included:

  • Heroin: 84 grams worth ₹2,52,000
  • Methamphetamine: 4.842 kg (Mum 40,400) worth ₹61,64,600
  • Ganja (Cannabis): 4,011 grams worth ₹20,055

The total value of the seized narcotics amounted to ₹64,36,655.

Bawrhsap Pu K. Vanlalthiana stated that this operation is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse. He emphasized the importance of community vigilance, public awareness campaigns, and close cooperation between law enforcement and excise authorities to prevent drug-related offenses.

He further highlighted that police and excise officials have maintained strict monitoring and enforcement to ensure these seizures are carried out effectively, and that further operations will continue in the future.

The Khawzawl Police expressed appreciation for the collaboration of local communities, NGOs, and officials in tackling drug-related crimes. They also noted that this coordinated approach strengthens enforcement and outreach efforts in the district.

The operation involved Pu C. Thangchuanga, Assistant Commissioner of Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, and Pi Lalrinthangi, Sub-Headquarters MHIP Khawzawl, along with local MHIP sub-headquarters personnel and Khawzawl District Police officers.
