ADG Maharashtra NCC Directorate Meets Hon’ble Sports & Youth Affairs Minister At Mantralaya, Mumbai
Minister Assures of all Support for Empowerment of Youth in Maharashtra
Sept 2025 : Major General Vivek Tyagi, upon his recent appointment as Additional Director General of Maharashtra NCC Directorate, made a courtesy call on Advocate Manikrao Kokate, Hon’ble Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, Maharashtra at Mantralaya, Mumbai. The meeting was also attended by other key appointments of the ministry including Shri Anil Diggikar, Additional Chief Secretary Sports and other staff of the Hon’ble Minister. The ADG thanked the Minister for the active support being extended to Maharashtra Directorate in furtherance of NCC mandate of youth empowerment, as core component of national vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. The ADG highlighted the special position that Maharashtra NCC Directorate deservingly occupies within NCC initiatives across India, including the record of winning the prestigious Inter Directorate Championship for a record 23 times.
The ADG also briefed the Hon’ble Minister on important ongoing NCC initiatives including expansion being undertaken to increase the enrolled strength of state upto 1,21,878 cadets, with large representation of girl cadets & thereby enhancing reach of NCC to more colleges & schools in Maharashtra. The recent achievements of state NCC cadets from the 63 tri-services units of the Directorate were also highlighted.
In the backdrop of training, staff & infrastructure requirements to support various NCC activities and the forward looking training being undertaken within the recently revised curriculum of NCC, the ADG requested the Hon’ble Minister to urgently address infrastructure and staffing needs of the Directorate. The Minister assured the ADG of immediate action on both accounts and issued instructions to his staff for early follow up actions by allocating adequate assets & dedicated areas to NCC proximal to Mumbai. The Minister also instructed his staff to fill up staff voids and authorise additional vacancies for NCC units to support its expansion.
The meeting ended with exchange of mementos and the ADG expressed his sincere gratitude to the Minister for his positive inclination to address critical NCC requirements. The ADG assured the Hon’ble Minister that with continued proactive support of Maharashtra Government and his ministry, the state youth shall be effectively empowered to pursue successful careers while being responsible citizens and patriotic Indians, imbibing an ethos of always placing the nation first.
