Facing Every Challenge through Power of ‘Swadeshi’ and Self-Reliance: CM Dr. Yadav

Bhopal, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that it is the strength of ‘Swadeshi’ that has preserved our culture for thousands of years with its pride, dignity and prosperity. He said that in every era and every period, we have faced challenges with the power of ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’ and self-reliance. It was through ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’ that Mahatma Gandhi led the country to independence. Gandhiji inspired every citizen to boycott foreign goods and burn foreign clothes. CM Dr. Yadav stressed that everyone must have respect for our soil, our country, and the indigenous system. He further stated that Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya shared many similarities in their thoughts. Both were torchbearers of India’s long cultural and philosophical traditions. According to them, it is only from the seeds of self-reliance and ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’ that the tree of self-sufficiency will grow, enabling India to emerge as a major economic power in the world.

CM Dr. Yadav made these remarks on Thursday while addressing the state-level inauguration session of ‘Swadeshi’ Awakening Week, organized under the joint aegis of the Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad and ‘Swadeshi’ Jagran Manch on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary. He inaugurated the programme at Ravindra Bhavan with the traditional lighting of the lamp amidst chanting.

CM Motivates Public for ‘Swadeshi’

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also inspired the public to adopt ‘Swadeshi’ by leading a march on foot during the rally. He paid floral tributes to portraits of Bharat Mata, Mahatma Gandhi, and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya. On this occasion, organizations such as the Gayatri Parivar, Brahma Kumaris, Patanjali group and several social institutions expressed their commitment to ‘Swadeshi’ and handed over pledge-support letters to him. A short film focused on ‘Swadeshi’ was also screened during the event. Later, CM Dr. Yadav participated in a rally that began from Manas Bhavan and marched on foot to Ravindra Bhavan. The rally inspired industrialists, traders, shopkeepers, vendors, students, and various sections of society to adopt ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’, raising awareness with slogans centered on indigenous products.

‘Swadeshi’ Fairs in Bhopal, Betul, Shivpuri and Ujaiin

The Chief Minister announced that during ‘Swadeshi’ Awakening Week, ‘Swadeshi’ goods will be promoted and encouraged across the state. This mega campaign is being observed from September 25, the birth anniversary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya, to October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, covering all 313 development blocks of Madhya Pradesh. He added that ‘Swadeshi’ fairs will soon be organized in Bhopal, Betul, Shivpuri and Ujjain.

CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the biggest brand ambassador of ‘Swadeshi’, and under his leadership, India’s economy is moving forward rapidly. He stated that the path of a self-reliant and developed India lies in ‘Swadeshi’ itself.

Respecting Farmers and Artisans

Recalling a reference from the Ramayana, CM Dr. Yadav said that only by having faith in our land and soil can we make our lives meaningful and prosperous. He highlighted that farmers fill granaries only through their toil on the soil, while artisans working in small industries also pursue the path of self-reliance, and their hard work deserves respect. He appealed to people to purchase indigenous products during the upcoming festive season of Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali. Stressing the importance of collective responsibility, he noted that just as oxygen is essential for the flame of a lamp, society’s active participation is necessary for the success of a campaign like ‘Swadeshi’.

The event was attended by Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad Vice President Shri Mohan Nagar, representatives of Swarnim Bharat Varsh Foundation, Akhil Bharatiya ‘Swadeshi’ Mela Committee, Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan, Saraswati Vidya Pratishthan (Madhya Pradesh), along with a large number of school and college students.
