Kejriwal openly comes in support of Sonam Wangchuk, targets BJP government at the Centre
Delhi, Sept 2025 : The country’s famous education reformer and environmental scientist Sonam Wangchuk being continuously harassed by the BJP government at the Centre today raises serious questions on democracy. The person who thinks for the nation, brings change in education, gives new solutions to save the environment, is today being made a victim of the cheap politics of power.
Against this injustice, Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has openly come forward. He said that the BJP government, intoxicated with power, is suppressing the voice of the people and weakening the foundation of democracy. The people of Ladakh are not demanding any special privilege but only their constitutional rights—to vote and to choose their own government. But despite repeated promises, BJP is not giving them their due.
Kejriwal said that India did not take freedom from the British so that the people would become slaves of BJP in place of the British. Revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad sacrificed their lives for democracy, but today BJP is making states into Union Territories and snatching away people’s rights. If today the voice of Ladakh is ignored, tomorrow it will become the voice of the entire country.
The people of Ladakh today are fighting not only for their own rights but also for the protection of the democratic framework of the country. Their courage and unity prove that when the people decide, they can make those in power bow down. Arvind Kejriwal, calling this struggle the voice of the nation, said that democracy will survive only when every Indian stands with Ladakh.
Sonam Wangchuk’s life is also an inspiration. In 1988, he established SECMOL and showed a new path of education reform, opened alternative schools for failed students, and developed technologies like the “Ice Stupa” to deal with the climate crisis. He also supported the abrogation of Article 370, because he is a supporter of India’s unity.
Arvind Kejriwal is not just a Chief Minister, but a leader who understands the feelings of the people. He clearly said that this fight is not only of Sonam Wangchuk, but of the rights and democracy of every Indian. To suppress Ladakh’s voice today is to weaken the democracy of the whole country. Therefore, it is the duty of every citizen to stand with this fight, because today Ladakh’s fight is the real fight of democracy.
