Creating Jobs for Women – From 90 Decimal Land to 7 Acres
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Danwati Armo, a resident of Deorikhurd village in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, has become an inspiring example for women across the region. Through her hard work and innovation, she has transformed her life from cultivating vegetables on just 90 decimal land to now farming on 7 acres using modern agricultural practices.
As the president of Tulsi Women’s Self-Help Group, Danwati has not only achieved economic independence for herself but has also provided employment opportunities to several rural women, helping them become self-reliant.
She adopted advanced farming techniques such as drip irrigation and mulching, which conserved water and boosted productivity. Alongside cultivating vegetables like bottle gourd and ridge gourd, she also diversified into goat rearing and fish farming, further strengthening her financial position.
With support from the Bihan Yojana, Danwati gained access to technical know-how, marketing skills, and bank loans. This enhanced her confidence and enabled her to systematically expand her agriculture and livelihood ventures. Women working with her say that being associated with “Didi” has not only taught them farming and entrepreneurship but also given them a new perspective on living a self-reliant life. Schemes like Mahatari Vandan Yojana and Bihan have added to their economic empowerment.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Chhattisgarh’s ongoing mission to empower rural women is bringing positive changes to village life. Ordinary women are now emerging as “Lakhpati Didis,” walking firmly on the path of self-reliance.
