CM Shri Bhupendra Patel Presents 91 Development Projects Worth ₹397 Crore to Junagadh
Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel unveiled 91 development projects totaling ₹397 crore to the people of Junagadh through a video conference from Gandhinagar. In his address, the Chief Minister assured the people of Junagadh of the state government’s dedication to advancing urban development across all towns. The e-launch and foundation stone laying of these projects will significantly improve the Ease of Living for the city’s residents.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has directed the state to become a leader in urban development. Gujarat has gained international recognition for its urban progress. Junagadh, historically significant and situated at the base of Girnar, is also set to become a model of advanced development, reflecting the vision of Narsinh Mehta’s town as a pioneer in this endeavor. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, a new framework for urban development has been introduced. The state government is committed to delivering essential infrastructural facilities to support the growing urban population. The CM also highlighted the Prime Minister’s exceptional financial management, which has ensured that no development project is delayed due to budgetary constraints. Recently, the Chief Minister announced that checks totaling ₹2111 crore have been issued for infrastructure projects across Municipal Corporations. Of this sum, ₹34.40 crore has been designated for the Junagadh Municipal Corporation.
The Chief Minister mentioned the critical importance of maintaining high-quality development and outlined his vision for Junagadh Municipal Corporation to lead in development initiatives. The CM urged everyone to contribute towards propelling Junagadh Municipal Corporation to the leading position in development. Urban development has been a major focus in the central government’s budget, which aims to position our city as a key growth hub. The Chief Minister pointed out that, among the 100 major cities across the country, including those in Gujarat, both the central and state governments, along with various agencies, are prioritizing projects related to water supply, sewage treatment, and solid waste management. The CM also noted that the people of Junagadh have shown how effective public participation can be. Despite severe waterlogging issues in Junagadh streets last year caused by debris, soil, and vegetation, the Junagadh Municipal Corporation has made significant strides this year. They have addressed these challenges by desilting a 9 km stretch of the black canal using a PPP model. The Chief Minister applauded the Junagadh Municipal Corporation for its successful efforts in rainwater harvesting and sanitation initiatives. The Chief Minister commended the Junagadh Municipal Corporation for its decision to plant 25,000 trees, aligning with the Green Growth initiative and the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. He encouraged the residents of Junagadh to actively support and join this initiative.
Minister of State for Agriculture and District In-charge Minister Shri Raghavji Patel mentioned that e-launch and foundation stone laying ceremonies have been conducted for various development projects in Junagadh city. These projects, including CC roads, drainage lines, a swimming pool, and GIS base mapping, involve a total investment of ₹397.78 crore. The initiatives are aimed at creating jobs, boosting tax revenue, and fostering both urban and economic growth. To achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, the Gujarat State Government has introduced several schemes for urban development. The minister also highlighted that the issue concerning the commercial complex for traders in the Joshipura area has been resolved. Additionally, projects for the development of Narsinh Mehta Sarovar and Willingdon Dam are advancing, and 25 e-buses will be introduced to the city.
On this occasion, Mayor Smt. Gitaben Parmar highlighted the recent foundation stone laying and inauguration of several key development projects in Junagadh. These projects include upgrades to the drinking water supply across various areas, the renovation of the heritage Narsingh Mehta Vidyamandir, GIS base mapping in the Manapa area, the establishment of a solid waste segregation plant, and development works at Indreshwar Mandir. She acknowledged the substantial progress achieved in Junagadh with support from state government grants and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for addressing the concerns related to the commercial shopping center in Joshipura.
Municipal Commissioner Shri Om Prakash extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Minister of Agriculture and District In-charge Shri Raghavji Patel. Also in attendance were Deputy Mayor Shri Girish Kotecha, Collector Shri Anil Kumar Ranavasia, Standing Committee Chairman Shri Haresh Parsana, City BJP President Shri Punit Sharma, Ruling Party Leader Shri Kiritbhai, Whip Shri Arvind Bhalani, Construction Committee Chairman Shri Dharmesh Poshia, Water Works Committee Chairperson Smt. Kusumben Akbari, and other notable guests including Shri Pradeep Khimani, Shri Bharat Gajipara, Shri Manan Abhani, and Shri Vinu Chandigara, alongside a large gathering of Junagadh residents.
