Ministers Madan Dilawar and Otaram Dewasi Visit Sumangal Deepawali Mela, Praise SHG Women’s Skills
Jaipur, Oct 2025 : Rajasthan Grameen Ajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika) is organizing the Sumangal Deepawali Mela – 2025, where today the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for School Education, Panchayati Raj and Sanskrit Education Department, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. Madan Dilawar visited the mela. He keenly observed the wide range of products made by Self-Help Group (SHG) women, purchased earthen “Shubh–Laabh” and “Sita–Ram” decorative items (for doors), and appreciated their craftsmanship. He also tasted bajra (millet) cookies, praised the spices from Tonk district, and remarked that these local products reflect a beautiful confluence of rural tradition, quality, and innovation. Mr. Dilawar also visited the Rajeevika Food Court, where he savoured a variety of traditional Rajasthani delicacies. He stated that the food items showcased at the mela are not only distinctive in taste but also a strong example of the culinary skills and entrepreneurship of rural women.
On the same day, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. Otaram Dewasi, also visited the mela. He toured various stalls, appreciated the products created by SHG women, and stated that the mela is playing a vital role in providing a marketing platform to rural women, thereby contributing significantly to their journey towards self-reliance.
The mela continues to witness a large daily footfall, with an atmosphere of enthusiasm and trust towards rural products. Organized by Rajeevika, the mela is being held from 01 to 12 October 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sansthan, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Jaipur, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. The fair showcases a vibrant collection of handcrafted products, traditional apparel, handicrafts, and authentic cuisines from various districts of Rajasthan, which remain major attractions for visitors.
