Folk Art Expert Dr. Ruma Devi Visits Sumangal–Diwali Fair 2025, Praises SHG Women’s Artworks

Jaipur, October 8, 2025: Renowned folk art expert Dr. Ruma Devi visited the Sumangal–Diwali Fair 2025 on Wednesday and appreciated the artworks displayed by women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Rajeevika. She highly commended the women artisans for showcasing skill, innovation, and traditional art together, noting that such platforms offer recognition and empowerment opportunities for rural women artists.

The fair also attracted foreign visitors, who showed keen interest in the handicraft products and local delicacies exhibited by Rajeevika’s women members. They praised the craftsmanship, product quality, and diversity of traditional art, expressing deep curiosity to learn more about Indian culture.

At the fair, organized by the Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika), traditional folk and fine arts were prominently showcased, drawing considerable attention from visitors. The exhibition featured an impressive fusion of paintings created by SHG women members, including Jaipur’s Mandala Art, Pratapgarh’s Mandana Art, Ajmer’s Bani Thani and Pichwai Paintings, and Jaipur’s Hand Paintings.

These artworks beautifully reflected the fusion of rural tradition, artistry, and intricacy. Distinguished guests and visitors admired the fine detailing and creative craftsmanship of Rajeevika’s women artisans. They openly appreciated the traditional aesthetics, color combinations, and creativity embodied in these paintings.

The exhibition not only provided a strong platform for rural art, but also stood as a powerful example of creativity and self-reliance among SHG women.

The Sumangal Diwali Fair 2025 is being held from October 1 to 12, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Institute, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Jaipur, open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM. The fair features products, traditional attire, handicrafts, and authentic cuisines from various districts of Rajasthan, which have become major attractions for visitors.
