SCERT Hosts ‘Colours of Inclusion 2025’ Festival for Special School Children

Aizawl, Oct 2025: The Special Education Cell under the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) organized the ‘Colours of Inclusion 2025 – Fest for Special School Children’ at the SCERT Office this week. The event was inaugurated by SCERT Director Caroline Zoramthangi.

Director Zoramthangi highlighted the significance of the festival, stating that it provides children with special needs opportunities to participate confidently, enjoy themselves, and feel valued. The festival included various activities designed to develop skills, knowledge, and social interaction among the children. She emphasized that children who may not typically have the chance to express themselves can now engage, learn, and showcase their talents. Addressing the gathering, the Director said, “Today is a special day. Every child can learn. Every child deserves to be celebrated.”

The Special Education Cell, established in 1986 under SCERT, focuses on inclusive education in Mizoram. Its primary goal is to empower children with special needs, helping them develop skills and abilities. The festival served as an important platform for promoting the inclusion, confidence, and recognition of special school children.

The program was organized by Joint Director Pi Zoramthangi Ralte, who welcomed the students and teachers. The festival included various interactive activities, musical performances, and stages for children to showcase their talents. Additionally, stalls were set up for students to display their creative work.

A total of 119 children from six special schools and institutions participated in the event, including:

  • Govt. Primary School-II, Durtlang
  • Special Blind School, Durtlang
  • Redeem Garden
  • Ephatha Special School
  • Gilead Special School
  • Shining Star School

The festival provided a vibrant and inclusive environment, fostering learning, creativity, and celebration for children with special needs.
