Master plan developed to surpass one trillion dollar economy goal : UP Govt

Lucknow : After presenting a historic budget of seven and a half lakh crores this year, the Yogi government is now setting its sights on making Uttar Pradesh the largest economy in the country within the next few years. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the preparation of a detailed action plan, concentrating on 10 key sectors to achieve this ambitious goal.

Speaking on the supplementary budget of the state in the House a day earlier, the Chief Minister outlined the necessary steps to propel Uttar Pradesh towards a one trillion dollar economy, focusing on 10 key sectors. To achieve this ambitious target, he has instructed officials to prioritize these sectors and the establishment of coordinated efforts among all crucial departments involved in the state’s economic development.

The focus will be on law and order, agricultural production, social security, infrastructure and industrial development, urban development, rural development, medical and health services, education, tourism and culture, and revenue collection. These areas will be pursued with a mission-mode approach over the next three years.

Each of these sectors has been assigned to a designated cabinet minister, supported by experienced officers at the Additional Chief Secretary level. CM Yogi has instructed the preparation of both short-term and long-term action plans for each sector. To ensure successful implementation, the Chief Minister will personally oversee the progress of these plans.

Having completed its 7-year term, the Yogi government is now setting its sights on a major goal for the next three years. The government has already achieved notable success in infrastructure, law and order, traffic connectivity, and employment.

The Yogi government has established a strong foundation for its ambitious goal of making Uttar Pradesh a one trillion-dollar economy. A key indicator of this progress is the notable rise in the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), which reached Rs 25.48 lakh crore in the financial year 2023-24, up from Rs 22.58 lakh crore in 2022-23.

In the financial year 2023-24, Uttar Pradesh’s economy experienced an eight percent growth. This positive trend is a result of the state government’s strategic efforts over the past seven years, and it is expected to continue growing further.

Uttar Pradesh contributes approximately 8 percent to the national GDP and boasts the most fertile land, abundant water resources, youth population, and the largest consumer and labour market in the country. Not only this, UP has 12 percent of the country’s land, and produce 20 percent of the nation’s food grains. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has noted, if India is a bright spot on the global stage today, Uttar Pradesh is poised to play a crucial role in driving the country’s growth.

Focus is on these 10 sectors:

1- Law and order
2- Agricultural production
3- Social security
4- Infrastructure and industrial development
5- Urban development
6- Rural development
7- Medical and health
8- Education
9- Tourism and culture
10- Revenue collection
