New Delhi, Oct 2025 : The festival of Karva Chauth was celebrated with devotion, tradition, and great enthusiasm today at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan. On this occasion, Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta made special arrangements, filling the atmosphere with warmth and a sense of belonging. The event was graced by several prominent women personalities from Delhi and across the country, who participated in the celebration with heartfelt enthusiasm.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that it is the Delhi Government’s constant endeavor to not only preserve such traditional festivals but to celebrate them with dignity and grace, as they strengthen the family values that form the foundation of our society.

This was the first Karva Chauth celebrated by Mrs. Rekha Gupta after assuming office as Chief Minister. Therefore, she ensured that every arrangement reflected the sanctity and spirit of the festival. The celebration was attended by the wives of Union Ministers, women Members of Parliament, spouses of MPs and Delhi Government Ministers, women legislators, wives of male MLAs, women councillors, senior women officers of the Delhi Government, and many other eminent women from various institutions and organizations.

By evening, the Jan Seva Sadan was resplendent with festive joy. Devout women, dressed in traditional attire, exchanged greetings and blessings for Karva Chauth. The sight of younger women touching the feet of elderly women and seeking their blessings created a deeply emotional and spiritual atmosphere. The evening began with the recitation of the Karva Chauth Katha (legend of the festival), which all fasting women listened to with devotion. This was followed by cultural performances that filled the environment with joy and celebration. Many participants expressed that it was the first time they had witnessed such an organized and heartwarming celebration of Karva Chauth in Delhi, crediting the Chief Minister for making the festival truly special.

As the moon rose, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with the other women, performed the rituals with devotion and prayed for the long life and well-being of their husbands, bringing the sacred fast to its traditional conclusion.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta said that Karva Chauth is a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage and the profound traditions of womanhood. The festival not only represents the eternal bond of faith and devotion between husband and wife but also embodies the values of sacrifice, love, and unity that define our family system. She added that Karva Chauth exemplifies the unwavering faith and devotion of Indian women, who observe this fast with sincerity and joy for the long life of their husbands, the prosperity of their families, and the well-being of all.

She further said that even in today’s changing times, this festival remains a powerful means of staying connected to our cultural roots. The true beauty of Karva Chauth, she said, lies not only in fasting but in the confluence of emotions, the warmth of relationships, and the spirit of devotion that strengthens family bonds. The sight of women, adorned in traditional attire, listening to the Katha, exchanging good wishes, and performing the rituals under the moonlight, brings alive the very soul of Indian culture.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the Delhi Government is committed to preserving and promoting such traditions in the capital in a dignified and celebratory manner, as these festivals fortify our family values and deepen the spirit of love, devotion, and togetherness in society.
