CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Provides ₹50 Lakh Assistance Each to Families of UPNL Employees Who Died in Accidents
Oct 2025 : Through the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL), Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over cheques of ₹50 lakh each as financial assistance to the dependents of three employees who lost their lives in separate road accidents.
At a programme held at the Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Minister presented the cheques to the families of the deceased employees who were serving through UPNL. These included Brijesh Kumar, who was posted in the Electricity Distribution Division, Jaspur and passed away in January 2025; Tasleem, posted at BRIDCUL Dehradun, who died in November 2024; and Sanjeev Kumar, from the Electricity Distribution Division, Haridwar, who died in February 2025 in a road accident.
Acting on the Chief Minister’s directions and keeping in view the welfare of government, semi-government, and UPNL employees, the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various banks to provide several facilities and insurance benefits under the Corporate Salary Package. Under this important initiative, financial assistance is being provided to the families of employees who die in accidents.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Punjab National Bank (PNB) for extending this facility to UPNL employees.
Chief Minister Dhami said that while no financial aid can compensate for the loss of a human life, such assistance provides economic support to the bereaved families during difficult times. He emphasized that the government’s constant effort is to ensure a safe and dignified work environment for all employees and to extend maximum possible assistance to their families in times of hardship.
He further said that under the Corporate Salary Package, employees across the state are being provided insurance coverage and other security benefits.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to employee welfare, the Chief Minister said that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has introduced several innovative measures and employee-friendly policies.
Present on the occasion were Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Deependra Chaudhary, Additional Secretary Manmohan Mainali, Major General (Retd.) Shammi Sabharwal, UPNL Managing Director J.N.S. Bisht, PNB Zonal Head Anupam, Deputy General Manager Abhinandan, and Assistant General Manager Ajit Kumar Upadhyay.
