Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Programme under Project Period Pride Held at Rangte and Phairuangkai Villages

Lunglei, Oct 2025: As part of the Deputy Commissioner Lunglei’s initiative on menstrual health and hygiene for adolescent girls under the “Project Period Pride”, awareness programmes were organised today at Rangte and Phairuangkai villages within the Lungsen Aspirational Block, Lunglei District.

The “Awareness Programme on Menstrual Health & Hygiene” was organised by the Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei, in collaboration with the Departments of Health & Family Welfare, School Education, and Women & Child Development.

The morning session was held at Rangte Community Hall for students of Government Middle School, Rangte, and RMSA Secondary School, Rangte, with 52 students participating. The afternoon session took place at Government Middle School, Phairuangkai, for students of Government Middle School and RMSA Secondary School, Phairuangkai, with 47 students attending.

During the sessions, Dr Lalremruati, Medical Officer, Lungsen Primary Health Centre (PHC), delivered an informative talk on menstrual health and hygiene, emphasising the importance of awareness and open discussion on the topic. Pu Vanlalsanga, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Lungsen ICDS Project, also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by ICDS to promote women and child health.

A quiz competition on menstrual health and hygiene was also organised for the students, with the following winners:

I. Rangte:

1. Vanlalrinpuii, Class X

2. Lalnuntluangi, Class X

3. Lalhriatsanga, Class VI

II. Phairuangkai:

1. Lalmawipuii, Class X

2. D. Lucy, Class VIII

3. Ramdini, Class VI
