MNIT Jaipur Convocation: CM Bhajanlal Sharma Urges India to Become a Technology Creator
Jaipur, Oct 2025 : Chief Minister Mr. Bhajanlal Sharma said that nations leading in new technology and innovations are the ones that lead the world. Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) has elevated Rajasthan’s name through innovation, entrepreneurship, and world-class research. MNIT has now become a symbol of knowledge, innovation, and national service. It is the responsibility of the youth to carry this legacy forward and make India not just a consumer of technology, but also a producer.
Mr. Sharma was addressing the 19th convocation ceremony of MNIT. He said that we must take our diligence to laboratories, startups, industries, and classrooms. The future lies in semiconductors, quantum computers, renewable energy systems, and artificial intelligence. Scientists, technologists, strategists, and innovators will be the leaders of the future. He said that technology is the key that opens the doors to prosperity, security, and respect.
The Chief Minister said that MNIT’s NIRF ranking as the top NIT in North India is a matter of pride for everyone. The institute has completed 249 consultancy projects, worth over 13 crore rupees, marking a significant achievement. He said that MoUs with the Indian Army’s Southwestern Command, Redox Engineering, and the Nuclear Fuel Complex under the Department of Atomic Energy will create new dimensions for the institute.
MNIT begins uploading degrees on DigiLocker platform
Mr. Sharma said that over 150 students will receive doctoral degrees this year from MNIT, and 30 differently-abled students will graduate. This year, 77 international students have also joined the institute. He said that MNIT has the highest student-faculty ratio among all NITs, demonstrating its commitment to women’s empowerment. The new education policy has been implemented in the curriculum, providing students with training in accordance with the policy. He added that the institute has also begun uploading degrees on the National Academic Depository DigiLocker platform, keeping pace with technology.
India to be among top global economic powers in next two decades
The Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, India has achieved the status of the fourth largest economy and is progressing toward being the third largest economy. In the next two decades, India will be among the top economic powers. He said that youth, our skills, and our technological capability will be unprecedented, and youth power along with institutions like MNIT will be at the center of this transformation.
Startup policy creates new innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities
Mr. Sharma said that the government’s startup policy has provided Rajasthan’s youth with new opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. The AVGC-XR policy has been implemented. The I-Start program has been expanded to promote entrepreneurship and innovation among school students, establishing 66 I-Start Launchpad Nests. Under the Rajasthan Startup Program, 2,028 startups were registered in 2024–25, and 300 startups received approximately 11 crore rupees in funding through the I-Start Fund. The Learn, Earn and Progress (LEAP) program is reviving startups.
Early Career Program (TEKBI) launched for youth
The Chief Minister said that the Early Career Program (TEKBI) has been launched to create skill enhancement and employment opportunities for youth immediately after Class 12. Under RIPS 2024, IT and ITES projects are provided three options for asset-creation incentives, including 75% SGST reimbursement for 7 years, 20% capital subsidy, and 1.4% turnover-linked incentive, with beneficiaries choosing one option.
About 91,000 government appointments made
Mr. Sharma said that the state government has undertaken historic work to provide employment opportunities to youth. So far, appointments have been made for approximately 91,000 government posts, and recruitment for about 1,54,000 posts is in various stages. He added that the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit led to MoUs worth 35 lakh crore rupees, of which 7 lakh crore rupees have been implemented.
During the convocation, the Chief Minister awarded degrees to 21 top-performing students in B.Tech, M.Tech, MSc, MBA, Architecture, and Planning by presenting gold medals. He also released a technical journal written in Hindi.
The event was attended by Director of MNIT Jaipur, Mr. Narayan Prasad Padhi, faculty members, and a large number of students.
