Mumbai, Dt. 4: Following warnings from the Indian Meteorological Department about heavy rains in Pune and surrounding districts, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the administration to be fully prepared. With heavy rains currently impacting the area, the administration must ensure readiness. Residents in potentially dangerous areas around rivers and dams should be relocated to safer places. If necessary, assistance from NDRF, SDRF, and the Army should be sought.
Water has been released from dams such as Khadakwasla, Mulshi, and Pavana. Citizens living within flood-prone areas around these dams and rivers need to be moved to safe locations. Areas at risk include Ektanagar, Dattawadi, Patil Estate, Yerwada, Shivaji Nagar Court, Kamgar Putala, Harris Bridge, Dapodi, Juni Sangvi, Kasarwadi, Pimpri Camp, Rawet, Balewadi Gavthan, and the Jupiter Hospital area in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Chief Minister Shinde has emphasized that the entire administration must remain alert and work in coordination to evacuate people, provide shelter, and ensure access to necessities like food, clothing, and medical care. The public should be informed promptly of any updates from the Meteorological Department.
