Beed celebrates Diwali in new homes as district sets new record in rural housing construction
Deputy Chief Minister and Beed Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar congratulates beneficiaries and officials for the scheme’s success
Beed becomes the first district in Maharashtra to complete over 50,000 houses!
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar thanks Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving additional housing targets for Maharashtra
Beed, October 2025 : Under the initiative “Diwali in a New Home”, Beed district has achieved a record-breaking feat in the state by completing construction of more than 50,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the State-sponsored Rural Housing Scheme. This has turned the dream of thousands of Beed residents — owning a house of their own — into reality.
For this effort, the government disbursed ₹990 crore, enabling Beed to secure first position in Maharashtra in rural housing completion.
Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Beed Ajit Pawar congratulated the people’s representatives, the Chief Executive Officer of Beed Zilla Parishad, officials, staff members, and all beneficiaries who worked tirelessly to make the initiative a success.
‘A true Diwali celebration in every new home’ – Ajit Pawar
Deputy CM Pawar said the initiative was inspired by the vision that every rural family should have a home of its own. “Thousands of families in Beed celebrated this Diwali in their new homes — that is the real success story of this scheme,” he said.
He commended the dedication, planning, and consistent follow-up by officials and staff, describing these as the keys to success. “This achievement is a victory of meticulous planning, daily monitoring, and teamwork,” he added.
A major factor behind the district’s success was the ‘PMAY (Soft) App’ developed by the district administration. Through this app, every official was assigned responsibility for a specific area and maintained regular contact with beneficiaries to encourage and track construction progress.
With micro-level planning, daily follow-up, and timely fund disbursement, the district achieved its target within just four months. Under the leadership of the District Collector, the administration ensured timely availability of sand, inter-departmental coordination, and necessary construction materials.
A model of good governance and teamwork
The government has made rural housing a top priority, and both the central and state-sponsored housing schemes were implemented at an accelerated pace in Beed. The initiative was aligned with the state’s sustainable development goals, with the clear objective that “every eligible beneficiary should get a home before Diwali.”
Given Beed’s background of seasonal migration for sugarcane cutting, efforts were intensified to ensure that families received their new homes before they left for the cane-cutting season. As a result, thousands of families in the district celebrated Diwali this year in the comfort of their own homes — a moment of pride and emotional fulfillment for many.
PM Modi’s support strengthens Maharashtra’s housing mission
Ajit Pawar expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving additional housing targets for Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, thereby giving new momentum to the state’s mission of ensuring housing for all. “By approving additional housing targets for Maharashtra, the Prime Minister has strengthened the dream of every ordinary family in the state to have a home of their own,” Pawar said.
He added that the state government is committed to ensuring that no eligible family in Beed remains without a home, and the scheme will now be implemented even more rapidly and effectively. “Our next goal is to ensure that every family in Beed has a roof over their head. The government is fully committed to this cause,” Pawar emphasized.
He also assured that the government will continue to work for Beed’s comprehensive and inclusive development with the same energy and commitment.
Ajit Pawar congratulates the entire district
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar extended heartfelt congratulations to all officials, staff, people’s representatives, and beneficiaries who played a crucial role in this achievement. He conveyed his warm Diwali greetings to everyone, appreciating their collective efforts in making Beed a state leader in housing completion.
