On the Occasion of Govardhan Puja, Chief Minister Performs Cow Worship; Wishes Prosperity and Well-Being for the People of the State

Raipur, Oct 2025 : On the auspicious occasion of Govardhan Puja, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai performed Gau Puja (cow worship) at the cowshed located at his official residence in Raipur. He offered prayers to Gau Mata and fed her khichdi, upholding the traditional practice of gauseva (service to the cow). The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt wishes for the peace, prosperity, and happiness of all residents of Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister said that Govardhan Puja is a sacred festival that expresses gratitude toward nature, cattle, and the environment. He conveyed warm greetings to all citizens on this auspicious occasion.

After the prayer and ritual offerings, during the distribution of prasad, the Chief Minister personally honored the caretakers of the cowshed by offering them sweets. Appreciating their service and dedication, he urged everyone to come forward to participate in the protection and preservation of cattle. The Chief Minister also inspected the facilities at the cowshed, where caretakers informed him that all arrangements for the well-being and maintenance of the cattle were in place.

Chief Minister Sai said that Govardhan Puja symbolizes gratitude toward nature, food, and livestock in our lives. “The cow is the cornerstone of Indian culture,” he said, “as it is deeply connected not only with our rural life but also serves as the center of our economy and faith.”

He further added that the spirit of serving cows and worshipping nature is deeply ingrained in the soil of Chhattisgarh. “To honor the cow, food, and earth is to bow to the maternal power that sustains our life. When we pay respect to them, we connect with the roots of our culture, the depth of our soul, and the true source of prosperity,” he stated.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said that in Indian tradition, the cow is revered as ‘Gau Mata,’ and in keeping with that sentiment, the state government is working to make cow welfare a key pillar of rural development in Chhattisgarh.
