We will empower youth to become job creators, not job seekers — Chief Minister

Chief Minister meets students of School of Eminence in Morinda, Describes School of Eminence as the “Temple of the Modern Era”

Morinda (Rupnagar), Oct 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday said that the state government is continuously working to secure a bright future for the youth, with the goal of transforming them from job seekers into job providers.

The Chief Minister interacted with students of the Shaheed Subedar Meva Singh School of Eminence in Morinda. Addressing the students, he said the state government has ushered in a new era of educational revolution in Punjab. This transformation, he said, is preparing students to meet the challenges of a competitive future and empowering them to achieve greater heights in life.

Mann said that while the government has taken unprecedented steps to provide employment opportunities to the youth, equal emphasis is being laid on channelising their boundless energy in the right direction.

Drawing an analogy, the Chief Minister remarked, “Just as runways at airports help airplanes take flight, the state government is helping our youth take off towards their dreams.” He recalled that the state launched an education revolution in 2022 to turn the dreams of Punjab’s children into reality and enable them to reach new milestones. He added that it is painful to look back and see how misguided policies in the past had deprived poor children of their right to education.

Mann said the government has now implemented far-reaching reforms in the education sector that are being appreciated across the country. He informed that a total of 118 Schools of Eminence are being established in Punjab, with an expenditure of ₹231.74 crore incurred so far. These schools, he said, represent a major step toward securing a brighter future for children from economically weaker backgrounds.

The Chief Minister added that students in these schools are being provided free uniforms, and special free bus services for girls have been introduced to ensure that not a single girl is left behind due to lack of transportation. He expressed hope that these institutions would become the “temples of the modern age” by offering high-quality education and illuminating the lives of thousands of students.

Mann proudly noted that students from private schools are now seeking admission to Schools of Eminence, which he described as a testament to the success of this model.

He further said that students in these schools are being provided special coaching for competitive exams such as NEET, JEE, CLAT, and NIFT, along with training for the armed forces. The Chief Minister said it is a matter of great pride that 265 students from the Schools of Eminence and other government schools qualified for JEE (Main), 44 students cleared JEE (Advanced), and 848 students passed the NEET examination.

Mann also highlighted another key initiative — the School Mentorship Programme, under which senior government officials mentor students of government schools to guide them in academics and career development.

He said that Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) have been introduced in government schools, receiving overwhelming support from parents. “Punjab has around 19,200 government schools, and nearly 25 lakh parents have already participated in these PTMs,” he added.

Concluding his address, Chief Minister Mann reiterated the state government’s firm commitment to bridging the gap between government and private schools, ensuring equal access to quality education for every child in Punjab.
