Smiles of Sisters are the Real Wealth of the Government : CM Dr. Mohan Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Bhai Dooj represents the soul of Indian culture. This festival is a symbol of the sacred affection and deep bond between brothers and sisters. It strengthens family values and the moral duty of brothers to protect and respect their sisters throughout life. Dr. Yadav said that Bhai Dooj is not only a celebration of sibling love but also a reflection of social unity, women’s dignity, and preservation of family values.
The Chief Minister was addressing sisters during a special Bhai Dooj (Bhatru Dwitiya / Yama Dwitiya) celebration organized at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Thursday.
“Sisters are the true strength and blessing of Madhya Pradesh”
During the event, the Chief Minister interacted warmly with the women and extended heartfelt greetings for Bhai Dooj. Sharing the government’s achievements and priorities, Dr. Yadav said, “It is my good fortune that I have more than 1.26 crore sisters in the form of Ladli Behnas. We are bringing light and happiness into their lives.” He announced that all Ladli Behnas will now receive ₹1,500 per month, and added, “There is no shortage of funds in the government treasury for our sisters.”
Describing women as the embodiment of Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati, Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is the first state where sisters celebrate Raksha Bandhan and Bhai Dooj every month through the Ladli Behna Yojana. “This scheme is a direct path to prosperity. It has given women confidence and financial stability in difficult times,” he said.
So far, under the Ladli Behna Yojana, the state government has transferred around ₹45,000 crore in 29 installments. “The smiles of our sisters are the true wealth of Madhya Pradesh and my government,” the Chief Minister added.
An emotional celebration at CM’s residence
On this occasion, Dr. Yadav showered flower petals on the sisters and extended Bhai Dooj greetings. Women from across the state applied tilak on his forehead, tied safas, and offered coconuts as a token of respect. The Chief Minister gifted sweets and presents to the sisters.
The event witnessed traditional Nimari folk songs and dances, celebrating the affection and warmth of sibling bonds. The Ladli Behnas blessed the Chief Minister, wishing him long life, good health, and prosperity for the state.
“Blessings of sisters give us courage to serve better”
CM Dr. Yadav said, “It is the blessings of our sisters that give us the confidence to work fearlessly. Today, the CM residence has become their home. Sisters connect families, their hearts are large and full of compassion. In Sanatan culture, they are revered as Jagadamba and Lakshmi.” He remembered the valor of women warriors such as Rani Durgavati, Rani Lakshmibai, and Rani Avantibai Lodhi, saying their courage continues to inspire the women of Madhya Pradesh.
CM Dr. Yadav draws inspiration from Lord Krishna and Subhadra
The Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted the divine relationship between Lord Krishna and his sister Subhadra, stating that Bhai Dooj draws its inspiration from such stories that symbolize eternal love and protection. He announced new incentives under the government’s employment-oriented policy women working in industries will receive an additional ₹5,000, and those starting their own ventures will get a 2% interest rebate. Women registering property, houses, or shops in their names will also receive concessions. “Our sisters should establish their own enterprises and become prosperous,” he urged.
PM Modi’s guidance and state government’s commitment
CM Dr. Yadav expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that under his guidance, lakhs of women in Madhya Pradesh have received free housing and are becoming economically empowered. “The CM’s residence will always remain open for sisters, it is their maika (maternal home),” “Hundreds of sisters have blessed this house today. May every home in the state be filled with happiness.”
Women’s welfare is central to our policies
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized that women’s safety, dignity, education, and self-reliance are at the core of government policy. Through schemes like Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Ladli Behna Yojana, Women Self-Help Group Empowerment Programs, and Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana, women’s living standards have improved tremendously. He cited Minister Sampatiya Uikey’s efforts in the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to deliver tap water to every household in villages.
Safe and empowering environment for working women
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said the government is ensuring an environment where women can work safely at any hour, day or night. Labor laws have been amended to make employers responsible for women’s safety. The government is also building Working Women’s Hostels/Shelters in industrial areas. Notably, 47% of startups in Madhya Pradesh are led by women. “There is no lack of funds for our sisters. Healthy and happy women will create a prosperous Madhya Pradesh,” he affirmed.
Women’s empowerment — Madhya Pradesh sets a national example
CM Dr. Yadav said that “No civilization in the world gives women the honor that Sanatan Indian culture gives. Bhai Dooj is a celebration of a sister’s blessing and a brother’s duty. Madhya Pradesh is not only preserving this tradition but turning it into a social strength. The Ladli Behna Yojana will now enter a new phase — increasing the monthly transfer from ₹1,250 to ₹1,500. “These extra ₹250 will give sisters new courage and new hope,” he said. Since June 2023, crores of rupees have been directly transferred into beneficiaries’ accounts. He shared touching stories, describing the impliment of the amount being given is the Ladli Behna’s, some women bought sewing or photocopy machines, others started small food businesses or dairy farms, using the funds to educate their children and support their families. Our sisters are now becoming the economic backbone of their homes, he said proudly.
Transforming lives through multiple welfare schemes
CM Dr. Yadav stated that honoring and empowering women brings prosperity and happiness to every home. In the past year and a half, Madhya Pradesh has taken unprecedented steps in women’s empowerment that have become a model for the nation. Through the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, over 51 lakh daughters have been registered, receiving financial support for education. The Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana has supported poor daughters’ marriages, while Janani Suraksha and PM Matru Vandana Yojana ensure maternal care. The newly launched Devi Ahilya Nari Shakti Mission will further empower women in every sphere of life.
Women express gratitude
During the event, Ladli Behna beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister. Smt. Pinky Jain shared that she started a papad-making business with the scheme’s assistance. Smt. Sangeeta said the scheme made women financially stronger, thanking Dr. Yadav as their “brother.”
Ladli Behnas Becoming Self-Reliant: Minister Nirmala Bhuria
Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria said that on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, all the sisters of Madhya Pradesh are blessing Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Through the Ladli Behna Yojana, women living in rural areas are now establishing their own businesses and paying for their children’s school fees.
She said that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav is always eager to introduce new schemes aimed at making women financially self-reliant. The state government has also provided reservation for women in urban bodies and the Panchayati Raj system, ensuring their representation and participation in governance.
Chief Minister’s Residence Becomes the Maternal Home of Ladli Behnas: Minister Krishna Gaur
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, Krishna Gaur, said that today, the Chief Minister’s residence has truly become the maternal home (maika) of the state’s Ladli Behnas. She said that Bhai Dooj is a festival where brothers take a pledge to protect, respect, and honor their sisters. The Ladli Behna Yojana has enhanced the respect and dignity of women within their families. Minister Smt. Gaur added, “Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has resolved that the sisters of our state will now live lives of strength, not compulsion. It is a matter of pride for all women that Madhya Pradesh has such a sensitive and caring Chief Minister.” She further said that the state government is realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stands beside the Ladli Behnas at every step as their protector and support.
Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Maya Naroliya added that from next month, all sisters will receive ₹1,500 per month.
