Nagpur Emerges as a New Hub for Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
223 acres of land in MIHAN transferred for Solar Defence and Aerospace Project
Nagpur, Oct 2025 : Solar Defence and Aerospace, one of India’s leading manufacturing companies, is expanding its operations in Nagpur. For this state-of-the-art defence and aerospace manufacturing project, 223 acres of land in MIHAN were formally transferred to the company by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, under prescribed terms and conditions.
The land transfer ceremony was held at the Ramgiri residence of the Chief Minister, where the land documents were officially handed over to Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman of Solar Industries. Also present on the occasion were Manish Nuwal and Raghav Nuwal, Directors of Solar Group; J.F. Salwe, Senior Officer of Solar Industries; Dr. Vipin Itankar, Joint Managing Director of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) and District Collector; Gaurav Upashyam, Senior Manager; and Sanjay Ingle, among others.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed satisfaction that this new expansion project of Solar Defence and Aerospace will give Nagpur a new identity as one of the country’s foremost defence and aerospace manufacturing hubs. He said the initiative will further strengthen Maharashtra’s contribution to the ‘Make in India’, ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, and industrial growth missions.
He added that the state government’s investor-friendly policies and the increasing confidence of major industries in Maharashtra highlight the state’s progressive approach to industrial development.
The Solar Defence and Aerospace Company is making an investment of around ₹12,080 crore in India’s defence sector, of which ₹680 crore is being invested in this project located in MIHAN’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nagpur. The project is expected to create about 400 direct and nearly 1,000 indirect employment opportunities.
This new facility will bring international recognition to Nagpur in the defence manufacturing sector and make a significant contribution to the industrial progress of the Vidarbha region.
According to Dr. Vipin Itankar, Joint Managing Director of MADC, this achievement reflects the continuous efforts of the Maharashtra Government and MADC to attract investors, generate regional employment, and position the state as a national leader in defence and manufacturing industries.
