Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates Shri Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair
Tehri Garhwal, Oct 2025 — Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 49th Shri Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair on Monday by hoisting the flag at Kunjapuri in Tehri Garhwal district, marking the start of the nine-day celebration.
During the event, the Chief Minister made several important announcements related to the beautification and development of canals, buildings, roads, and temples, giving a fresh impetus to local infrastructure and tourism. He said the Kunjapuri Fair would become a significant platform for promoting local development and tourism in the region.
After inaugurating the development exhibition, the Chief Minister visited various departmental stalls and paid floral tributes at the statues of martyrs and freedom fighters.
Among the major projects and approvals announced by CM Dhami were:
- Construction of 400 meters of residual flood protection works at Dhalwala.
- Development of surface parking and approach roads at Khara Srot Gadere in Munikireti under Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations.
- Reconstruction of canals damaged by natural disasters in Narendra Nagar.
- Construction of community halls in Tapo Van Nagar Panchayat and Pawki Devi (Dogi).
- Establishment of a Sub-Registrar Office in Narendra Nagar.
- Reconstruction of six houses in Balmiki Basti.
- Expansion and road connectivity for the Kumhar Kheda Community Hall.
- Reconstruction of the road from Shri Pant’s shop to the Sugar Godown in Muni Ki Reti–Dhalwala Municipality.
- Approval of an Anesthesia Work Machine (Automatic Ventilator) for Shri Dev Suman Sub-District Hospital.
- Establishment of an ANM Training Centre in Narendra Nagar.
- Funding approval for beautification of the Bhuwaneshwari Devi Temple (Hardisera) and Pawli Devi Temple.
- Proposal for parking construction at Gullarbogi and check dams on the Hwel River at Mansera, Bhagodi, and Bhentola Tok.
CM Dhami extended his greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion, expressing hope that the blessings of Goddess Kunjapuri would continue to guide and protect all. He said the fair symbolizes faith, cultural heritage, and glorious tradition, serving as an engine for trade, regional development, and tourism since 1974.
Highlighting India’s cultural depth, he said the country’s identity lies in its Sanatan culture and eternal values. “Our culture is not merely about rituals; it is a positive and inspiring philosophy that continuously motivates us,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, under which India’s glorious cultural heritage is being revived and preserved. He reaffirmed that the state government is working with full commitment toward the holistic development of Uttarakhand, focusing on protecting spiritual sites and promoting the state’s unique identity.
Calling migration one of the biggest challenges, CM Dhami said the government is working on key projects to strengthen the local economy and promote tourism. Through the House of Himalayas brand, local products are gaining recognition across India and abroad. Policies like the Farm Machinery Bank, Film Policy, Apple Mission, and Homestay Scheme are helping to empower the local economy.
He emphasized that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Additionally, a strong anti-cheating law has been enacted, ensuring transparent recruitment for over 26,000 youth in the past four years. The government has also taken decisive steps to curb illegal conversions and encroachments, giving the state a new identity and direction.
“Uttarakhand is moving ahead with full dedication to emerge as a leading state in the country,” he asserted.
Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, while addressing the gathering, said that the Kunjapuri Mela not only promotes the local culture and traditions but also provides a platform for people from across the country to experience the diverse cultural heritage of India. He added that the fair continues to grow every year through collective participation and enthusiasm.
