CM Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA Government’s Proactiveness and Foresight Prevent Major Cyclone Damage in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati, Oct 2025 : Natural disasters cannot be stopped, but with timely alertness, their damage can be significantly reduced. The coalition government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has once again proved this through its proactive handling of Cyclone Montha. Working round the clock, the Chief Minister continuously reviewed the situation and guided officials and staff from the state to village level, successfully minimizing the impact of the cyclone.

Based on the early warnings and advisories from the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the government responded swiftly and implemented preventive safety measures, thereby averting large-scale loss of life, livestock, and property. What began as a low-pressure system that was expected to bring moderate rains till October 26 transformed into Cyclone Montha over the southeast Bay of Bengal by October 27. Anticipating this, the SDMA had already issued alerts on October 17, prompting the Chief Minister to place the entire government machinery on high alert.

IAS officers were appointed as nodal officers for every district to oversee precautionary and mitigation measures. Under the Chief Minister’s continuous supervision and guidance, officials across all departments worked tirelessly over the past three days to reduce potential damage. Ministers also toured the affected regions to personally monitor preparedness and response efforts.

Under the leadership of Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and SDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, control rooms were established across all districts, while a 24-hour state-level control room was set up at the SDMA headquarters in Tadepalli. Officials from various departments worked in coordination, gathering real-time data from districts and ensuring prompt government action.

To support coastal communities and aid relief efforts, the government deployed trained SDRF and NDRF teams to the vulnerable areas. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, funds were released to all districts to ensure food, shelter, and essential amenities for affected citizens.

As part of the rescue operations, 320 rehabilitation centers were set up statewide, providing residents with meals, drinking water, milk, and other necessities. Medical camps were organized to safeguard public health, while teams were deployed to keep roads clear and ensure uninterrupted transportation. Swift repairs were carried out on damaged electric poles to restore power without delay. The government also arranged for the free distribution of essential supplies to families in need.

By maintaining constant vigilance and coordination across departments, the coalition government successfully averted large-scale destruction and loss of life. The effective management of Cyclone Montha stands as a testament to the strong leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the preparedness of the Andhra Pradesh administration.
