New Delhi, Oct 2025 : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday led the nation in paying tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary, remembering her as “India’s Indira — fearless, resolute, and steadfast in the face of every power.”

In a heartfelt post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “India’s Indira — fearless, resolute, and steadfast in the face of every power. Grandma, you taught me that nothing is greater than India’s identity and self-respect. Your courage, compassion, and patriotism continue to inspire every step I take even today.”

He offered floral tributes at Shakti Sthal in New Delhi, honouring her “steadfast leadership, fearless spirit, and deep commitment to the people of India.” The site witnessed a solemn gathering to mark the 41st anniversary of Indira Gandhi’s assassination, an event that remains deeply etched in the nation’s collective memory.

Kharge paid homage by recalling Indira Gandhi’s unwavering dedication to national unity. Quoting her iconic words, he posted on X: “As long as there is breath in me, service will not stop, and when my life ends, then I can say that every drop of my blood will keep one India alive.”

Kharge added that Indira Gandhi, India’s first woman Prime Minister, embodied exceptional courage and foresight. “On her martyrdom day, we pay humble tribute to a leader who played an instrumental role in preserving India’s unity and integrity and building a strong, progressive nation,” he said.

In his message on X, he wrote, “On this day in 1984, one of India’s greatest leaders was martyred. Her life—from participating in the freedom struggle as a child to leading India through turbulent times with courage and vision—will always inspire generations. We vow to dedicate our lives to realising the India she dreamt of.”
