Priyanka Gandhi Hits Out at Modi Govt: “Take Their Money, But Vote Wisely”
Patna, Nov 2025 : Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday delivered a fiery address in Bihar’s Begusarai district, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government of attempting to influence voters by distributing cash ahead of the Assembly elections. Speaking at a massive rally in the Bachwada constituency, she alleged that the ruling alliance was offering Rs 10,000 to voters as part of an election-time inducement.
“The ruling parties didn’t give you anything all these years, and now suddenly they are handing out Rs 10,000,” Priyanka said. “Why now? Because they need your votes. Take their money if they offer it, but vote wisely. Don’t let them buy your vote.”
She stressed that the Congress was also making promises but asserted that people must hold the party accountable. “If we don’t fulfil our promises, remove us,” she declared, emphasising transparency and public responsibility.
Invoking Bihar’s historical importance, Priyanka Gandhi reminded the crowd that the state was the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom movement. She questioned why, despite its legacy, Bihar’s development remained stagnant. “This land has given so much to the nation. Why has the leadership failed to develop this state?” she asked.
Priyanka accused the Modi government of weakening constitutional rights, particularly equality, liberty, and the right to vote. She alleged that the ruling BJP was dividing society along caste and religious lines, distracting people from real issues like unemployment and inflation.
She drew attention to the alleged deletion of 65 lakh voter names during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). “If your vote is cut, your rights are cut,” she said, underscoring her criticism of the government’s handling of electoral rolls.
Taking aim at the BJP’s top leadership, she said that while the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister frequently campaigned in Bihar, they rarely addressed pressing public concerns. “They do not talk about inflation, unemployment, or migration. Families in Bihar are breaking apart because people are forced to leave the state for work. From Kerala to Kashmir, I meet people from Bihar working everywhere.”
Priyanka accused the BJP-led government of imposing excessive taxes, privatising national assets, and promoting contract-based employment. She also targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, highlighting that he had been in power for two decades. “Now he says he will give 1.5 crore jobs. Why didn’t he do it in the last 20 years? Does he think people are foolish?” she asked.
Continuing her attack on the NDA, she said the alliance promised to control inflation and unemployment but instead handed over major economic resources to industrialist allies while neglecting public welfare.
She criticised the BJP’s “double-engine government” slogan, saying decision-making was entirely controlled from Delhi. “They don’t have a double engine; they have a single engine that runs from Delhi. You have no voice, and even your Chief Minister has no voice,” she claimed.
Priyanka alleged that the policies under Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had worsened migration from Bihar. According to her, only a change in government could reverse the trend. She further accused the BJP of trying to manipulate elections. “When dividing people didn’t work anymore, they tried distractions. Now that the public is awake, they are stealing votes,” she said, calling BJP leaders “vote thieves.”
Responding to the BJP’s frequent criticism of past Congress governments, she argued that the ruling party selectively remembered history. “Who built the IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS? Jawaharlal Nehru established these institutions. We talk about the present and the future. They only talk about the past when it suits them,” she said.
On the caste census, Priyanka defended the Congress’s position and questioned why Rahul Gandhi consistently raises the issue. She said backward classes, extremely backward classes, Dalits, and Mahadalits still lacked adequate representation. “That is why a caste census is essential,” she said.
She alleged the BJP initially opposed the caste census from top to bottom. “But after their disappointing performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they realised the political equation was changing. They began supporting the idea—only to later go to court and push it aside.”
With sharp rhetoric and a direct challenge to the ruling NDA, Priyanka Gandhi’s Begusarai rally set the stage for an intense political contest in Bihar, where issues of development, representation, and voter rights remain at the forefront.
