Fadnavis Says Tejashwi Yadav Making “Superficial Promises,” Calls Grand Alliance Manifesto Unrealistic
Patna, Nov 2025 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has launched a sharp attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, claiming that the opposition leader has realised he will not be able to form the next government in Bihar. Speaking at an election event, Fadnavis said Tejashwi Yadav has begun making “superficial and unrealistic promises,” including offering the Deputy Chief Minister’s post to multiple individuals.
According to Fadnavis, Tejashwi has told “at least 25 people” that he would appoint them as Deputy Chief Minister if his alliance comes to power. “Tejashwi Yadav knows he will not be elected, and only those who know they won’t win make such promises. Those who are confident of victory understand they must face the public with honesty. They cannot fool people with such claims,” he said.
Responding to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s recent statement declaring that the “countdown for the NDA government has begun,” Fadnavis questioned her political credibility. “Priyanka Gandhi should explain what she means by ‘my politics.’ Is it inclusive politics or divisive politics? Because she has practiced the most divisive politics,” he said.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also criticised Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday, calling his election vows “a bundle of lies.” He particularly targeted Tejashwi’s promise that one member of every family in Bihar would receive a government job if the Grand Alliance comes to power. “Tejashwi Yadav’s promises are lies. Nitish Kumar’s promises are trustworthy,” Goyal told ANI.
Goyal’s remarks came a day after the Grand Alliance unveiled its election manifesto titled “Bihar ka Tejashwi Pran” in Patna. The manifesto includes several major commitments such as providing government jobs, restoring the old pension scheme, and supplying free electricity to households. One of its most ambitious pledges is to ensure that one member of every family gets a government job within 20 months of forming the government.
Calling the manifesto “fiscally unrealistic,” Goyal argued that such promises were not grounded in economic reality. “Even if Bihar’s budget were increased 25 times, it would still not be possible to fulfil these commitments,” he said. He added that the youth of Bihar are sensible and capable of understanding which promises are practical and which are not.
As political rhetoric intensifies ahead of voting, both sides are trading sharp accusations. Elections for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results scheduled to be announced on November 14. The campaign atmosphere continues to heat up as leaders from all major parties attempt to win over voters with promises, criticisms, and political messaging aimed at shaping Bihar’s electoral outcome.
