TN Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin Highlights Massive Welfare Outreach in Ranipet
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin delivered a detailed address at Ranipet district during a government welfare assistance distribution programme.
In his speech, the Deputy Chief Minister said:
“I am extremely delighted and proud to participate in this historic event in Ranipet district, where welfare benefits worth nearly ₹300 crore are being distributed to around 73,000 people, including 22,000 beneficiaries present in this very venue. I thank the district administration and especially Minister Thiru Gandhi of Ranipet for organising such a grand programme at short notice.”
He added that Ranipet, known historically as the ‘City of the Queen’, holds a special place among Tamil Nadu’s royal heritage towns. He said it was notable that the event witnessed a massive presence of women, and praised Minister Gandhi for organising a programme that gave priority to women’s welfare.
Women-Centric Governance
Out of the 73,000 beneficiaries of today’s event, 55,000 are women. Udhayanidhi Stalin emphasized that since the DMK government came to power under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, women’s empowerment has been the central focus.
He highlighted that the government’s goal is to ensure women become economically independent, without having to depend on anyone.
Women’s Rights & Social Schemes
The Deputy CM elaborated on several major welfare schemes:
Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (Kalaignar Women’s Rights Allowance)
- A revolutionary scheme promised by the Chief Minister.
- Despite criticism from opposition parties and financial challenges, the CM fulfilled his promise.
- 1 crore 20 lakh women receive ₹1,000 per month.
- In Ranipet district alone, 1.7 lakh women benefit each month.
- From December onwards, even more eligible women—those left out earlier—will receive the allowance.
Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
- Numerous women SHG members were present.
- He praised them as an inspiration to others.
- As per the CM’s direction, today 50,000 women will receive gold rings.
- The government has introduced the unique Half-Sovereign Gold Scheme for SHG members—implemented in no other Indian state.
- SHG women can now transport their products up to 25 km free in government buses and without any hurdles for up to 100 km.
Education Schemes
Pudhumai Penn Scheme & Tamil Thaai Award
- Ensures girls pursue higher education.
- Every student receives ₹1,000 monthly scholarship.
- Across Tamil Nadu, 8 lakh girls benefit.
- In Ranipet district alone, 16,000 students are receiving educational incentives.
Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme
- Children now go to school happily knowing they will receive nutritious breakfast and quality education.
- 22 lakh children benefit daily.
- In Ranipet, 25,000 children receive breakfast each day.
Housing Schemes
Udhayanidhi Stalin emphasized the importance of housing as a basic human right:
- Today, 12,000 families in the district will receive housing patta (ownership documents).
- Across four years of DMK governance, 19 lakh people have received house site pattas.
- He stressed that people no longer need to visit government offices requesting pattas—
“The government itself now comes to your doorstep to deliver them.”
He praised district officials for their hard work in implementing the scheme promptly.
Government’s Commitment to the People
He noted that several Chief Ministers of other states, including Kerala and Telangana, have praised Tamil Nadu’s welfare schemes, especially the education and women-oriented programmes. Tamil Nadu today stands as a model state for India, he said.
