The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved a government guarantee for a loan of ₹2,000 crore to be taken by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) from HUDCO for acquiring land for the Virar–Alibag multi-purpose transport corridor.

The corridor will be 126.06 km long, of which 96.410 km—from Mauje Navghar (Palghar district) to Mauje Balawali (Pen taluka)—will be undertaken in Phase 1 on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
