BSF All-Women Team Creates History by Scaling Mount Everest, Amit Shah Hails ‘Nari Shakti’
New Delhi, May 2026 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday congratulated the all-women mountaineering team of the Border Security Force (BSF) for creating history by successfully summiting Mount Everest, calling it a shining example of courage, discipline, and “Nari Shakti” in action.

The achievement comes during the BSF’s Diamond Jubilee year, making the feat even more significant for the country’s premier border guarding force. The Home Minister praised the women personnel for demonstrating extraordinary determination and resilience while reaching the world’s highest peak.
Taking to social media platform X, Amit Shah lauded the team’s accomplishment, stating that the BSF’s women personnel had brought glory to the nation by conquering Mount Everest and hoisting the spirit of patriotism at the summit.
“Nari Shakti proves BSF’s invincible might. My heartiest congratulations to the all-women mountaineering team of the BSF that scripted golden history by summiting Mt. Everest. Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the force, they conquered the world’s highest peak and sang Vande Mataram to the skies, setting a rare example of grit, patriotism and dedication. My salutations to all the team members,” Shah wrote on X.
He also reshared the BSF’s official post announcing the successful expedition under “Mission Vande Mataram,” which confirmed that the team had reached the summit on Thursday.
According to the BSF, the all-women expedition team comprised Constable Kouser Fatima from Ladakh, Constable Munmun Ghosh from West Bengal, Constable Rabeka Singh from Uttarakhand, and Constable Tsering Chorol from Kargil. The team successfully reached the 8,848.86-metre-high summit of Mount Everest at around 8 a.m. (IST).
The force said that the Mahila Seema Praharis carried the spirit of “Vande Mataram” to the top of the world, marking a historic milestone during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
“At an altitude where most people require oxygen support and even standing upright is a challenge, they sang Vande Mataram in one unwavering voice, creating a historic milestone that reflects the strength, resilience and indomitable spirit of Nari Shakti,” the BSF said in its statement.
The achievement has been described as a proud moment for the nation, symbolising women’s empowerment, national pride, and the operational excellence of the BSF.
Established on December 1, 1965, after the Indo-Pak war, the Border Security Force operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is widely regarded as India’s “First Line of Defence,” guarding the country’s international borders with dedication and professionalism.
