Record Number of Deliveries at Balodabazar District Hospital: 456 Births in October

Public Trust in Hospital’s Health Services Continues to Rise
Raipur, Nov 2025 : The number of institutional deliveries at Balodabazar District Hospital reached a record level in the month of October. A total of 456 deliveries were recorded during the month, of which 155 were conducted through C-section (surgical delivery). The rising number of deliveries indicates increasing public confidence in the hospital’s maternal and child healthcare services.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Kumar Awasthi stated that around 1,400 pregnant women underwent ANC (Antenatal Care) check-ups in the district, which reflects growing awareness regarding regular examinations and safe motherhood. Due to the rising number of delivery cases, the workload at the district hospital has also increased significantly.

According to the Health Department, the surge in deliveries has put additional pressure on the maternal and child wards, creating a need for more resources, manpower, and upgraded facilities—arrangements for which are currently being made.

Civil Surgeon and Hospital Superintendent Dr. Ashok Kumar Verma said that due to improved facilities, safe delivery practices, free medicines, availability of health staff round the clock, and various people-friendly government schemes, more and more pregnant women are turning to the district hospital for childbirth.

He added that this trend increases the likelihood of achieving significant progress in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in the district.
