CM Revanth Reddy Predicts Congress Rule in Telangana Until 2034, Slams Previous BRS Regime
Hyderabad, Nov 2025 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday expressed strong confidence that the Congress government would continue to rule the state for at least the next eight years. Speaking at the “Meet the Press” programme organised by the Hyderabad Press Club, the Chief Minister declared, “Mark my words — Congress will be in power in Telangana until June 2034.”
Revanth Reddy, who completed two years in office this year, used the platform to elaborate on the achievements of his government and to justify his belief that the people of Telangana would grant the Congress a renewed mandate. He also made several political predictions, questioned the credibility of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and launched a scathing attack on the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government headed by K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
Elections Likely to Be Held With 2029 Lok Sabha Polls
Making an unusual forecast for future polls, the Chief Minister said the next Telangana Assembly election would not take place in December 2028, when the state is normally scheduled to go to the polls. Instead, he claimed that simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and all state Assemblies would be conducted in June 2029. “We will go to the people again in June 2029,” he asserted, adding that the Congress would seek votes based on “a solid track record and visible results.”
“Telangana Growing Rapidly Under People’s Government”
Revanth Reddy said Telangana experienced significant economic growth during the Congress regime in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, and he claimed that the pace of development had accelerated since 2023 under what he called the “People’s Government.” According to him, Congress rule restored transparency, expanded welfare measures, and prioritised long-term socio-economic growth after “a decade of misrule under BRS.”
Sharp Attack on KCR: “He Ruined Telangana”
The Chief Minister targeted former CM KCR and accused him of causing severe financial damage to the state. He pointed out that when Telangana was formed in 2014, the new state inherited a surplus budget of ₹16,000 crore. However, by the time the Congress government assumed office in 2023, the total debt had reportedly crossed ₹8.11 lakh crore.
“Instead of building the future, KCR built palaces,” Revanth remarked, referring to the new Secretariat, Pragathi Bhavan, and the Command Control Centre. He alleged that these massive expenditures did not generate a single job.
Revanth Reddy also criticised the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, calling it “the biggest scam in independent India.” He said KCR spent ₹1 lakh crore on the project “without irrigating even one acre of land.” Overall, the BRS government allegedly spent ₹1.85 lakh crore on irrigation projects with “no meaningful results.”
Accusations of Neglecting Education and Healthcare
The Chief Minister accused the previous government of damaging the education and healthcare sectors by failing to appoint Vice Chancellors in universities and shutting down nearly 5,000 schools. He said that both the Osmania Hospital building and the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) remained incomplete for years due to “total administrative apathy.”
“These institutions could have saved thousands of lives during emergencies,” he said.
Comments on KTR and Internal BRS Politics
In unusually personal remarks, Revanth Reddy said that becoming Chief Minister was “not in the destiny” of BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR). He compared KCR to Dhritarashtra, claiming the former CM tried to hand over the state to his son but fate would not allow it.
“KTR changed the directions of buildings citing Vastu, but what is the use if destiny itself is not favourable?” he commented.
Revanth further alleged that KTR showed injustice to his own sister, K. Kavitha, and mocked KTR’s recent claims of support for Jubilee Hills bypoll candidate Maganti Sunitha.
Allegations Against Union Minister Kishan Reddy
The Chief Minister also targeted Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accusing him of prioritising Gujarat’s development over Telangana’s. “Kishan Reddy is acting like a slave to Gujarat and is blocking Telangana’s progress,” he alleged.
BRS and BJP Have a “Fevicol Bond”
Revanth Reddy reiterated that the BRS and BJP maintain a “Fevicol bond,” implying they work together behind the scenes. He questioned why the BJP-led central government had not initiated a CBI probe into the alleged Kaleshwaram scam despite the Telangana government formally transferring the case to the central agency months earlier.
He also said the Governor had still not granted approval for KTR’s arrest in the Formula E race funds mismanagement case, though the state government had sought permission three months ago.
Congress Credited for Hyderabad’s Transformation
Highlighting Hyderabad’s economic success, Revanth Reddy said the city’s transformation into an IT and pharmaceutical hub was largely due to decisions taken by previous Congress governments.
He stated that Hyderabad now accounts for 40% of India’s bulk drug production, has attracted $1 billion investment from Eli Lilly, and recently received investments from American Airlines and McDonald’s.
He added that 65% of Telangana’s revenue comes from Hyderabad and that Rangareddy district has the highest per capita income in India, crediting proactive policies implemented by Congress governments.
Welfare Measures under Current Congress Government
Listing his government’s achievements, Revanth Reddy noted:
- ₹7,100 crore spent on free bus travel for women
- Rajiv Aarogya Sri limit increased to ₹10 lakh
- Construction underway for a new ₹3,000-crore Osmania Hospital
- New ration cards issued to eligible families
- Cooking gas supplied at ₹500 cylinder
- 200 units of free power provided
- ₹21,000 crore in farm loans waived
- ₹9,000 crore distributed under Rythu Bharosa in nine days
- BC caste census completed
- First state in India to implement Scheduled Caste sub-classification
- Establishment of Young India Skills University, Police School, and new residential schools
- Plans approved to bring 20 TMC of Godavari water to Hyderabad
He also credited late Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy for his contribution to Hyderabad Metro Rail development.
Conclusion
Revanth Reddy ended his address on a confident note, stressing that the Congress government would continue to rule Telangana “as long as development, transparency, and people’s welfare remain at the centre of governance.” He reiterated that the party would return to power again in 2029 with an even stronger mandate from the people.
