Amit Shah Reviews Red Fort Blast Probe as 8 Killed; NIA Joins Investigation
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah is closely monitoring the situation after a high-intensity explosion in a slow-moving car near Delhi’s Red Fort left eight people dead and at least 24 injured on Monday evening.
The blast occurred around 6:52 p.m. near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, triggering massive flames that engulfed multiple vehicles and shattered windowpanes of nearby shops. The sudden explosion caused chaos in the busy area, which lies close to key government buildings.
The entire zone has been sealed off, and teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and Delhi Police Special Cell are examining the site. Authorities are investigating the incident from all angles, including a possible terror link.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha briefed the media, saying, “A slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light, and an explosion occurred inside it. Nearby vehicles were also damaged due to the impact.” He added that the Home Minister is being updated regularly. “The Home Minister has called us, and relevant information is being shared with him from time to time.”
Dr. B.L. Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, confirmed that eight victims were declared dead on arrival. Several injured persons continue to receive treatment.
Soon after the explosion, Delhi Police sounded a high alert across the national capital. Visuals from the scene showed thick smoke and charred remains of vehicles as firefighters battled the blaze. Police have cordoned off the area and intensified surveillance at key locations.
Uttar Pradesh on High Alert
Following the Delhi explosion, neighbouring Uttar Pradesh has also been put on high alert. The state’s Additional Director General (ADG) for Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, said that the DGP has directed all senior officers to strengthen security at religious places, border areas, and districts considered sensitive.
All security agencies and district police units in UP have been instructed to increase patrolling and conduct rigorous checks. Orders from Lucknow also mandate heightened vigilance in public spaces and transport hubs.
Investigators are working to uncover the cause of the blast, and agencies continue to scan CCTV footage, collect forensic samples, and trace the origin of the vehicle involved.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is closely coordinating with Delhi Police and central agencies as the investigation progresses.
