Delhi Blast Exposes White-Collar Terror Network Involving Three Kashmiri Doctors

Srinagar, Nov 2025 : The unmasking of a white-collar terror network behind the deadly Delhi car blast — which killed eight people and injured several others — has revealed the shocking involvement of three Kashmiri doctors, two of them from the same Pulwama village in Jammu and Kashmir.

The discovery has added a disturbing new dimension to terrorism in the region, with highly educated medical professionals emerging as key operatives in the plot.

The Main Suspect: Dr Mohd Umar

Dr Mohd Umar, believed to be the man who drove the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 that detonated near the Red Fort on Monday, hailed from Koil village in Pulwama. Umar, an MBBS graduate from the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, had secured his medical seat purely on merit.

Local residents recall him as a bright, hardworking student who showed signs of deep-rooted fundamentalist influence from early childhood. Following the blast, police detained his two brothers and mother for questioning, while sources said his father is mentally challenged.

Other Doctors in the Module

Another key figure arrested in the terror crackdown is Dr Muzammil, also from Koil village. The presence of two medical professionals from the same locality in the module has deeply unsettled the community.

The third doctor, Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, was arrested earlier this year after he allegedly put up posters supporting the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Srinagar. An AK-47 rifle was later recovered from his locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, where he worked until October 2024.

Highly placed sources said Adil’s sustained questioning proved pivotal, leading investigators to uncover the larger terror network. On his disclosure, a joint team of J&K and Haryana Police recovered 290 kg of ammonium nitrate, timer devices, assault rifles, and ammunition from a location in Faridabad.

Adil, a resident of Qazigund in Kulgam, also led investigators to the arrest of Dr Shaheen Shahid from Lucknow, from whose car another assault rifle was recovered.

A Plot Triggered by Panic

Even after the arrest of Adil and Muzammil, Umar remained absconding. Investigators now believe that the capture of his associates pushed him into panic, prompting him to execute the Red Fort blast prematurely.

Security agencies say more arrests are expected in the coming days, both within the Valley and in other parts of the country, as the breadth of the conspiracy becomes clearer.

Motive and Larger Threat

Intelligence reports suggest the module may have been attempting to avenge the deaths of family members of JeM founder Masood Azhar during Operation Sindoor. Agencies are now probing whether the group had intended to carry out serial blasts across major Indian cities, using explosive-laden vehicles.

Critical questions remain:

  • How many operatives outside J&K were part of this network?
  • Are additional sleeper cells still active?
  • Were more explosive-laden vehicles prepared for future attacks?

Security forces expect clearer answers in the coming days as interrogation and evidence collection intensify.
