TN Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin Hands Over Appointment Orders Under ‘Settri Nichayam’ Skill Scheme
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday (11 November 2025) presented appointment orders and skill incentive approvals to youth trained under the ‘Settri Nichayam’ (Success Guaranteed) programme implemented by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC).
The event was held at Nandambakkam, Chennai.
Skill Training Strengthening Youth Employment
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister said he was pleased that the scheme was helping trained youth secure jobs and receive skill incentives. He recalled that ever since Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the Dravidian Model Government, every initiative has focused on improving employment opportunities.
He highlighted that on his birthday—March 1—the Chief Minister launched the “Naan Mudhalvan” (I Am First) Scheme, which has trained 42 lakh youth in four years. Through this effort, 3.3 lakh youth have already secured employment, and the Settri Nichayam scheme is a natural extension of this success.
Training for Fresh Graduates, Dropouts & Job Seekers
Under Settri Nichayam, TNSDC now offers training to:
- School and college graduates
- Youth preparing for employment
- Job seekers and those already working
The Deputy Chief Minister praised the determination of young trainees who had joined the programme to improve their career prospects.
Skill Confidence Is Key
He stressed that gaining a skill—whether welding, coding, video editing, or any other—gives a young person confidence and opens doors to better opportunities. The scheme was launched to ensure that every youth acquires an additional skill beyond academic qualifications.
Currently, about 60,000 youth are undergoing training under this programme.
Continuous Learning & Upgradation
He emphasised the importance of updating skills with advancing technology. Citing the late Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi as an example, Udhayanidhi recalled how the former Chief Minister adapted from handwriting manuscripts, to printing them, to publishing online, and finally becoming active on social media in his 90s.
This, he said, showed that learning and effort have no age limit.
Wider Inclusion Across Communities
The Deputy Chief Minister noted that the scheme provides training across 35 sectors including:
- IT
- Electronics
- Beauty and wellness
- Hospitality
- Mechanical trades
Significantly, 72% of trainees come from socially and economically backward communities, including Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, transgender persons, persons with disabilities, survivors of mental health challenges, inmates released from correctional homes, fisherfolk, families affected by alcohol-related issues, and other vulnerable groups.
He added that the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Scheme, aimed at supporting female students, is also being linked with skill training, ensuring young women receive priority in employment-focused programmes.
Additional Incentives & Placement Support
Youth who complete their training will receive ₹12,000 skill incentive grants.
Through Factory Skill Schools, industrial sector training is being directly linked to job placements. For young artisans adopting new technologies, skill training support is also being extended along with loan assistance.
Appreciation & Commitment
Concluding his address, Udhayanidhi Stalin congratulated all trainees of the Settri Nichayam programme and extended his gratitude to:
- Training institutions
- Trainers
- TNSDC officials
- All those contributing to the programme’s success
He said the Dravidian Model aims to uplift society as a whole, and this scheme represents an important step toward empowering the youth of Tamil Nadu.
The press release was issued by the Director, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Chennai.
