Rajasthan Makes ABHA ID Mandatory in IHMS to Strengthen Digital Health System
Jaipur, Nov 2025 : Under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan is strengthening its healthcare system through advanced and technology-driven reforms. In this direction, Medical & Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar has made the use of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA ID) mandatory under the Integrated Health Management System (IHMS) to ensure better, transparent, and digital health services for every citizen.
The Health Minister said that the Rajasthan Digital Health Mission was launched to make healthcare services accessible, simple, and integrated across the state. Under this mission, ABHA IDs are being generated for every citizen to ensure that each individual’s medical record remains safe and accessible, preventing difficulties during treatment.
ABHA ID to be Generated During OPD & IPD Registration
Principal Secretary (Medical & Health) Gayatri Rathore said that under the Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nirogi Rajasthan Yojana (MNNRY), registration of all citizens receiving health services will now be done mandatorily using ABHA ID through IHMS. All hospitals and health institutions have been instructed to ensure that an ABHA ID is created and linked during every OPD and IPD registration. This will allow citizens to receive quality healthcare under the concept of “One Nation, One Health ID.”
Access to Digital Health Records
National Health Mission Director Dr. Amit Yadav explained that the ABHA ID is a unique digital identity number for every citizen, storing all their health records securely in one place. Through this, citizens can access their medical information anytime, from anywhere, and choose to share it with doctors during treatment. This system will enable digital health records, allowing patients to instantly view their details through mobile apps or portals.
Sharing patient information with hospitals or doctors will become secure and authorized, leading to faster and more accurate treatment. The initiative will promote a paperless and transparent healthcare system, making it easier for citizens to avail government health schemes and digital services.
ABHA ID Through OTP if Demographic Authentication Fails
Dr. Yadav added that if demographic authentication fails for any reason, an ABHA ID will be created using an OTP-based process. Hospitals are also being encouraged to adopt the “Scan & Share” system to simplify and speed up the registration process.
100% ABHA-Linked Registration Target — Rajasthan Creates 6.37 Crore ABHA IDs, Ranks Third in India
Dr. Yadav informed that all health institutions have been instructed to ensure 100% ABHA ID generation during OPD and IPD registrations. Rajasthan has so far created more than 6.37 crore ABHA IDs, placing the state third in India. Once the remaining citizens receive their ABHA IDs, they will be able to access their health records directly on their mobile phones.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in the successful implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in Rajasthan and represents a major step by the state government toward providing accessible, secure, and digital healthcare services to its citizens.
