Road Repairs Across the State in Full Swing; All Works to Be Completed by December

Raipur, Nov 2025: With the end of the monsoon season, repair work on National Highways across the state has picked up pace. Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Mr. Arun Sao has directed officials to complete all road repair work by December.
On Wednesday, PWD Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh chaired a review meeting with officials from the National Highway Division to assess the progress of ongoing repair works, new road construction, and upcoming projects. Chief Engineer Mr. V.K. Bhatpehri was also present at the meeting.
Dr. Singh emphasized that the post-monsoon period provides an ideal window to speed up construction and maintenance work. He instructed engineers to make full use of this time and ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeframe with high quality standards.
He also directed that contractors must complete all components under the Short-Term Maintenance Contract (STMC) and that once started, no repair work should be halted. “All works must be completed by December without delay,” he added.
During the review, Dr. Singh assessed the progress of ongoing National Highway projects and sought updates on approved estimates, tenders, work orders, and commencement status. He instructed that earthwork for sanctioned National Highways for FY 2025–26 should be completed by January 2026.
Dr. Singh also stressed the need to expedite land acquisition processes for new projects requiring additional land, in coordination with district collectors. He further directed that identified accident-prone “black spots” be repaired on priority to prevent road accidents. To enhance public convenience, he also ordered the installation of proper road signage along all National Highways.
Officials from the National Highway Division informed that 23 repair works worth ₹88.58 crore have been approved under the state’s jurisdiction. Out of these, works worth ₹71.49 crore have already been contracted and are currently underway.
Repair work is in progress on several key stretches including:
- NH-130: Abhanpur–Rajim–Gariaband–Devbhog road
- NH-130B, NH-353: Ghodari–Mahasamund–Bagbahra–Odisha border
- NH-930, NH-30, NH-63: Bhopalpatnam–Jagdalpur route
- NH-49: Various sections under repair
Additionally, contract formalities have been completed for repair of NH-43 (Katni–Gulma route), NH-45 (Ratanpur–Kenda–Kenvchi route), and NH-153 (Raigarh–Sarangarh–Saraipali route). Work orders for these projects will be issued soon to commence the repair process.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Mr. S.N. Srivastava, Chief Engineer (NH Division) Mr. Gyaneshwar Kashyap, Superintending Engineer Mr. S.S. Majhi, and Executive Engineers Mr. J.P. Tigga, Mr. Govind Ahirwar, Mr. R.K. Khambra, and Mr. Ramadhar Tambre.
