Chhattisgarh Secures Second Place in the Nation at the Eklavya Schools’ National Sports Competition
State Participants Win 55 Gold, 43 Silver, and 64 Bronze Medals
Chief Minister and Tribal Affairs Minister Extend Congratulations
Raipur, Nov 2025 : Chhattisgarh delivered an outstanding performance at the National Sports Competition 2025 for Eklavya Residential Schools, securing the second position in the country. Participants from the state’s Eklavya schools won a total of 162 medals, including 55 gold, 43 silver, and 64 bronze. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Tribal Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam congratulated all the students, athletes, and teachers for this remarkable achievement.
Officials from the Tribal Welfare Department informed that the 4th National Sports Competition for Eklavya Model Residential Schools was held in Sundargarh, Odisha, from 11 to 15 November 2025. Nearly 7,000 athletes from various states participated in the competition.
From Chhattisgarh, students were selected from 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools through school, district, division, and state-level competitions. A total contingent of 516 members, including 466 participants, represented the state at the national event. Chhattisgarh’s athletes showcased an exceptional performance, ranking second nationally with 162 medals.
The medal tally for Chhattisgarh included:
- Swimming: 10 Gold, 9 Silver, 7 Bronze
- Wrestling: 7 Gold
- Athletics: 7 Gold
- Taekwondo: 5 Gold
- Archery: 5 Gold
- Judo: 4 Gold
- Badminton: 4 Gold
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Jual Oram presented the trophy to the participants from Chhattisgarh.
Notably, more than 27,300 students are currently enrolled across 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Chhattisgarh. Along with quality education, the schools prioritize the physical and mental well-being of students. As a result, students from these institutions have brought pride to the Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department and the entire state with their exceptional performance at the national level.
On this occasion, Sonamani Boro, Principal Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, and Commissioner Dr. Saransh Mittar congratulated all the students, teachers, and the entire team of Eklavya Model Residential Schools for their remarkable success in the national competition.
