NIA Arrests Key Associate Who Provided Technical Support in Red Fort Car Bomb Blast Case
Nov 2025 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made another significant breakthrough in its probe into the Red Fort area car bomb blast, arresting a crucial associate who allegedly provided technical assistance to the terrorists involved, officials said on Monday.
The accused, Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, was arrested from Srinagar by an NIA team investigating case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI. A resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district, Jasir is accused of playing a central role in enabling the terror attack, which killed 10 people and injured 32 on November 10.
According to the NIA’s preliminary findings, Jasir allegedly offered specialised technical support, including modifying drones and attempting to assemble crude rocket systems for planned terror operations. Investigators believe he worked in close coordination with Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi, the terrorist who executed the suicide bombing. The agency described Jasir as an “active co-conspirator” who contributed significantly to the attack’s planning and execution.
The NIA is continuing to probe multiple dimensions of the case to identify all individuals involved in the wider conspiracy. Several teams are pursuing leads across states, conducting searches and examining digital and material evidence to dismantle the entire network responsible for the attack.
Earlier on Monday, a Delhi court sent another accused, Aamir Rashid Ali, to 10 days of NIA custody. Ali, a resident of Samboora in Pampore, was arrested on November 16 after a large-scale search operation. The car used in the blast was registered in his name.
The NIA has stated that Ali had travelled to Delhi to help purchase the vehicle later converted into a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED). Investigators allege that he conspired directly with Umar Nabi, coordinating logistics and preparations for the attack near the Red Fort.
Further, the NIA has forensically confirmed the identity of the deceased suicide bomber as Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi, a resident of Pulwama district and an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University, Faridabad. His remains were identified through forensic examination conducted after the blast.
As the probe deepens, the NIA is focusing on dismantling the entire module involved in the terror plot, with more arrests expected in the coming days. The agency is examining financial trails, technological support lines, and cross-border linkages to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy.
