Congress Leaders Pay Tributes to Indira Gandhi on Her Birth Anniversary, Recall Her Courage and National Vision

New Delhi, Nov 2025 : Senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, paid heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary, remembering her as a symbol of courage, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to India’s progress.

In a deeply emotional post on X, Priyanka Gandhi described her grandmother as her “ideal,” praising her indomitable spirit and far-reaching contributions to nation-building. She wrote that Indira Gandhi embodied patriotism, compassion, strength, and sacrifice — qualities that forged a leader who made the world recognize India’s capabilities. Priyanka further highlighted her role in making India a nuclear power and strengthening national infrastructure. “Grandma, you are my ideal, and through the values you instilled in me, you are always with me,” she added.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute, reflecting on how Indira Gandhi’s fearlessness and commitment to national interest continue to guide him. In his post, he said, “The inspiration to take courageous decisions for India and to always put the nation first comes from my grandmother. Her courage, patriotism, and ethics still give me the strength to stand firmly against injustice.”

Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, and other senior leaders, visited Shakti Sthal to offer floral tributes to the former Prime Minister. The solemn ceremony underscored the party’s enduring reverence for Indira Gandhi’s legacy.

Mallikarjun Kharge also shared his tribute on X, praising her “exemplary and dynamic leadership” and highlighting her immense political courage. He noted that Indira Gandhi’s unwavering dedication to public service continues to leave an indelible imprint on India’s journey of development. “Her supreme sacrifice to protect the unity and integrity of the nation deserves boundless reverence,” he said.

Indira Gandhi, often remembered as the “Iron Lady of India,” was born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) to Jawaharlal Nehru and Kamala Nehru. Her birth anniversary is observed as National Integration Day, celebrating her lifelong efforts to strengthen national unity and her pivotal role in shaping India’s political, social, and economic landscape.
