School Education Minister Inaugurates Edutech Fest & Career Fair 2025

Aizawl, Nov 2025: Dr. Vanlalthlana, Minister of the School Education Department, inaugurated the two-day EduTech Fest & Career Fair 2025 organised by the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) at the SCERT Courtyard today. The event was attended by Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) Chairman Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte as the special guest.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Vanlalthlana said that efficient use of technology will take the State forward. Since proficiency in AI and technology is becoming increasingly essential, students must be well-prepared in these fields, he said. He noted that although Mizoram has a high literacy rate, adequate competence is still lacking in some areas. Referring to the PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) exam, he said many Mizo students were unable to match the performance of students from other States, highlighting the need for improvement.

The Minister quoted the World Economic Forum, which predicts that by 2030, AI will eliminate around 85 million jobs globally while creating approximately 97 million new ones. Since students will have to work in collaboration with AI, he urged them to strengthen modern skills—digital literacy, communication skills, financial literacy, and tourism-related social and hospitality skills. He encouraged students to prepare themselves to be creators rather than mere job-seekers and added that the Government is committed to supporting them in this aim.

After concluding his speech, the School Education Minister officially inaugurated the EduTech Fest & Career Fair 2025 and presented 15 copies of the book “Zirna Lamtluang: Roadmap to Higher Education” authored by Pu Lalhruaitluanga to SCERT for distribution during the Fest.

Special Guest Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte stated that entrepreneurship and skill development have gained significant momentum worldwide. He emphasised that individuals who can create opportunities through practical skills and innovation are increasingly valued. Students with strong competence, determination, and vision will create change and succeed, he added. He urged students to have clear goals.

The MYC Chairman also outlined various initiatives of the Commission:
– 94 students who underwent MYC-sponsored coaching classes have secured Government jobs
– 5 candidates selected for the British Army
– Under the India–Taiwan Labour Mobility Agreement 2024, 50 Mizo youths will soon be employed in Taiwan
– Employment opportunities for caregivers in Japan, nurses in Germany, and spa therapists in Indian hotels
– Regular Food & Beverage training programmes.

MLA Pu T. Lalhlimpuia (32-Lunglei West) encouraged students to work hard and aim high. Speaking on the importance of AI and technology, he said that those who acquire skills in this era will have greater opportunities and success.

The inauguration was chaired by Pi Caroline Zoramthangi, Director of SCERT, who expressed gratitude to all attendees. She said the Fest aligns with NEP 2020 and NCF 2023, which emphasise holistic development and experiential learning for children. Dr. Lalduhawmi Thomte, Joint Director of SCERT, delivered the detailed report, followed by closing remarks from Pi Zoramthangi Ralte, Joint Director of SCERT.

The event was also attended by:
– Pi Angela Zothanpuii, Director, School Education Department
– Pu JH Zoremthanga, Chairman, MBSE
– Pi Sarah Lalengzami Pachuau, Secretary, MBSE
– Pu JH Lalbiakliana, CEO, Mizoram KVI Board
– Dr. Malsawmdawngliana Lailung, MYC Member
– Staff of Samagra Shiksha and DIET Aizawl
– Principals, Headmasters, and students from various schools.

A total of 42 schools will visit the Fest & Fair over two days.

According to the SCERT report presented by Dr. Thomte, this is the first time the EduTech Fest & Career Fair is being organised on such a large scale. SCERT, which began as the Academic Wing of the Education Department in 1980, separated from the Directorate of School Education in 2008. Since 2023, SCERT has conducted Career Awareness programmes in six locations and Career Exhibitions in 49 schools since 2019. The 6-Month Certificate Course in Guidance and Counselling has completed three batches from 2021, training 93 candidates.

The SCERT ICT Cell began organising the EduTech Festival annually from 2023; this is the third edition. Although technology offers many advantages, its improper use has increased, prompting the ICT Cell to focus on responsible and useful integration of technology in learning. The ICT Cell regularly produces learning content broadcast through two educational TV channels and YouTube Live. It also trains teachers in ICT-based teaching and develops digital assessments linked with textbook QR codes. Many teachers have received online training through the SCERT App. A Virtual Lab enables students from preschool to Class 10 to view 3D content using virtual headsets.

Since 1 November 2025, DIKSHA has been offering ECCE training for Anganwadi workers, which will continue until 15 February 2026.
