Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii Presides Over The 7th Capping & Lamp Lighting Ceremony And Graduation Programme At School Of Nursing, Thingdawl

Thingdawl, Nov 2025:Today, the School of Nursing, Thingdawl, grandly held its 7th Capping & Lamp Lighting Ceremony along with the Graduation Programme at the school auditorium. The event was graced by Pi Lalrinpuii, Minister, Health & Family Welfare Department, as the Chief Guest.

Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii conveyed congratulations and best wishes to the graduating students and the new trainees taking part in the Capping Ceremony. She said that students have many duties ahead of them, and emphasised that nursing is an honourable and highly respected profession, and an important service dedicated to the care of others.

Continuing her speech, the Minister said that in the present time, there has been great progress in the field of healthcare, and nurses play a crucial and indispensable role in this advancement. However, along with this importance comes significant responsibilities, and she urged them not to neglect these duties. She added that the government is working to upgrade the nursing profession through various initiatives, and many processes are being streamlined and computerised, requiring sincere attention.

Pi Lalrinpuii further stated that in order to ensure that nurses receive opportunities both within the country and abroad, the government is working in collaboration with the Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) to improve language training. She encouraged students to be prepared not only for work within Mizoram but also to work abroad, and to be well-protected from exploitation and fraud.

During the event, Pi Laltanpuii, Principal of the School of Nursing, Thingdawl (SONT), presented a detailed report. The graduating batch this year is the 6th batch consisting of 17 students, and 20 new trainees received their caps during the Capping Ceremony.

Throughout the programme, awards of appreciation were presented to outstanding students, and the students also showcased various beautiful items. After a vote of thanks by Pi Lalthlamuani, Tutor, the programme concluded.
