11 Schools Under Mizoram EMRS Society Participate in the 4th National EMRS Sports Meet, Sundargarh, Odisha

The 4th National EMRS Sports Meet, organized by the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, was held from 11th to 15th November in Sundargarh, Odisha. A total of 21 states participated in this national-level sports event, competing across various sporting disciplines.

From Mizoram, 11 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) under the Mizoram EMRS Society took part in the meet. A contingent of 78 members participated, consisting of 70 student-athletes (23 girls and 47 boys), accompanied by 7 escorts and 1 contingent manager.

The Mizoram participants performed exceptionally well across multiple categories, securing a total of 24 medals—9 Gold, 9 Silver, and 6 Bronze—in both individual and team events.

At present, under the Mizoram EMRS Society within the Planning & Implementation Department, there are 11 CBSE-affiliated residential EMRS schools functioning across 11 RD Blocks, collectively catering to around 2,400 students. These EMRS institutions provide education from Class VI to Class XII, offering both academic learning and holistic development opportunities to meet the diverse needs of tribal students.
