Social Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii Graces MHIP Special Assembly
Aizawl, Nov2025: Today, Pi Lalrinpuii, Minister for Social Welfare and Women & Child Development, graced the Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) Special Assembly as the Chief Guest at Vanapa Hall.
Minister Pi Lalrinpuii stated that since the establishment of the Mizoram State Social Welfare Advisory Board and the formation of MHIP, remarkable progress has been made in improving the status and welfare of women in the state. She highlighted that on 17th October in Geneva, she served as a guest speaker at a seminar organized by Widows Rights International, where she spoke about the struggles faced by Mizo women and widows in the past, the progress made so far, and the improvements still taking place today.
She emphasized that today, women are increasingly occupying roles in business, administration, and other government offices—signifying that Mizo women are securing their rightful place in society. She described this as a source of great pride.
The Minister said that as the status of Mizo women continues to rise, their responsibilities also grow. She stressed the importance of women being able to care for their families and children while also contributing to the strengthening of society. Referring to the idea of “Back to the Family,” she encouraged women to nurture responsible children and uphold strong family systems.
She appealed to MHIP to continue its role in supporting vulnerable women, widows, and girls in distress; to be a guiding and supporting force for them; and to maintain its apolitical stance so that MHIP remains a pure, respected, and impactful organization dedicated to service and thoughtful leadership.
During the event, Prof. Irene Lalruatkimi, General Secretary of MHIP, presented the “General Assembly 2025 Proceedings”. The State Legal Services Authority also conducted an awareness session for the public on important legal rights and protections.
In the second session, MHIP continued its general assembly proceedings and discussions.
