Bangladesh Welcomes Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay on Two-Day State Visit
Nov 2025 : Bangladesh extended a warm, ceremonial welcome to Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay as he arrived in Dhaka on Friday morning for a two-day state visit. Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus received the visiting leader after his Drukair flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 8:15 am.

The two leaders held a brief interaction at the airport’s VIP lounge. During the meeting, Prime Minister Tobgay expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by Thursday’s earthquake and conveyed solidarity with the affected families.
Following their discussion, Tobgay was escorted to a makeshift saluting dais, where he was honoured with a 19-gun salute and a formal guard of honour, reflecting the deep diplomatic friendship between the two nations.

From the airport, the Bhutanese prime minister travelled to Savar, where he laid a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial to pay tribute to the heroes of Bangladesh’s Liberation War. He also planted a tree on the memorial premises, symbolising long-term friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
Later in the afternoon, Bangladesh’s foreign adviser and commerce adviser are scheduled to meet with the visiting leader ahead of his one-on-one meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the latter’s office in Tejgaon around 3 pm. Prime Minister Tobgay will conclude the day by attending an official state banquet arranged in his honour.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across key sectors.
